I will begin by saying, prior to this, I've had 3 frenum piercings before. I would get one, and have to remove it a short while later for various reasons. The latest one came out about 2 weeks ago, and since, I've been dead set on having another. I decided to buy EMLA cream online beforehand first however, due to not really enjoying the pain of having my genitals pierced. I did a lot of research on EMLA cream and found I could not find very many articles on people who used it for genital piercings. I found a couple, but they were very vague so I decided I would write this. Once the cream arrived, I grabbed 4 8g captive bead rings from my room and headed straight to my piercer.
At A Glance Author Eric Contact i.spinal@yahoo.com When It just happened Artist James Studio Still Crazy Tattoos Location Portage, IN I arrived and found him sitting around not doing much. I quickly explained that I had decided on a frenum ladder and that I was going to use the EMLA. He said no problem, so I went and applied it. (Quick note - It is recommended to wait 45 minutes after application for full effect.) Once I put on a healthy amount all around my shaft, I placed a condom over to keep the air off as is recommended. While I was standing around waiting, he found that he did not have his taper kit with him, and his largest needles were 12g. After some quick searching at the head shop next door for any tapers or jewelry that could be used, I decided to just buy 4 banana bar 10g rings and we would use those. After standing outside and smoking a cigarette, we discussed the scar tissue from the 3 previous frenums and how we were going to try and avoid messing with it too much. Once about 40 minutes went by we were finally both on the same page as to what we were going to be doing.
We went into his studio room, and he began setting up while I pulled it out and explained where I wanted the holes. I wiped off the emla cream, and I must say, I felt absolutely nothing down there. I kept poking it with my finger nails, but nothing. I drew a line down the center with the dots on both sides to show where I wanted them while he got ready. Once he was set up, he cleaned it up a little more and then remarked it. He grabbed the forceps, and after applying them said to take a breath. I did and he popped the needle right on through right on target. I didn't feel a thing. Now this was a 12g needle but I had these 10g banana bars. He said he was just going to follow right through. He had explained to me earlier that the size difference wasn't too much and that it would go through no problem. Plus he added, he was only doing this because I had the Emla cream on. He pushed the bar through no problem. While everything was painless, and I was comfortable with how this was going, the pierce made it even better by talking the entire time to keep my mind on other things.
The second barbell he grabbed was stripped out, so we decided we would only do 3. He applied the clamps again, and pushed the needle through again. No pain was felt at all, and it had been 10-15 minutes since the first one was put in. again he followed through with the jewelry no problem. Once we were prepared for the 3rd piercing, it was about 10 minutes since the second. He applied the clamps, and pushed the needle through, again, everything was still completely numb. Now when he tried following with the barbell, it got stuck right at the end. When it finally came out the other side, there was a very audible "pop" noise that came from the barbell coming out the other side. We were both amazed the cream was still working, because it was a very painful sound. Afterwards I paid, tipped, and went home.
My aftercare is a very basic. I plan to clean it each night when I shower with a little soap and water. I spray some h2ocean on it before I lie down in bed each night. This is what I did with my others and things turned out fine for me, but others might be different. Just a quick cleaning each night and I wont really mess with it. I would personally check with your piercer and use his recommended aftercare procedures. As far as the EMLA was concerned, It was probably the only way I would have been able to bear the pain, and it actually made the experience quite enjoyable, because I wasn't so nervous or tense during the process. I did not purchase mine from the BME Shop personally, but I didn't realize that it was sold here yet. If you are looking to have a painless piercing, I would recommend checking the stuff out. I am considering adding 4 more to the ladder in about a month or two are well on their way too healing up.
