My "Whale" 3/23/01

For several months now I have wanted to expand my genital piercing collection, where it was limited only to one technical piercing, an apadravya with a prince Albert sharing the apa's southern hole. So I did some research as to what was available and read some experiences. Last week I was talking to my new piercer Chris (Jethro), at Obscurities in Dallas, checking prices and picking up a taper I needed for my septum. This is when I decided to get it done today, less than a week later.

The day of: After a week of wanting to put everything down and just go get it, the day finally comes. I wanted to wait till the end of the week so I could have an entire weekend for the bleeding to slow and pretty much some time where I can afford to not be moving around. A boring day of grunt work, at work, comes to and end sooner than I thought it would so I take off at 4pm just to be informed by the piercer at the pain I was asking for. For me this was pretty weird, I have never had a piercer straight up say to me that a piercing was going to be a very painful. So needless to say, this kind of shook me, having second thoughts, etc. He had me start to consider other types of piercings at this point but I only really had my heart set on a dolphin. So I put my "sudden" worries aside and went ahead and told him to prep it. About 30 minutes later, waiting with a stomach full of butterflies starting to second-guess myself, I get to lay on the piercing bed with Pat Tidwell looking on. This is when I got some sort of relief. Both piercers realized when I dropped my pants that I had little more than enough room (0 gauge hole) in my existing apadravya hole. So instead of the needle piercing two new holes (or 4 to be technical..) it only had to go through one and an existing. Lucky me. Chris cleaned me up, marked me up, sticks the receiving tube down my urethra (the most uncomfortable part of the entire procedure.) told me to hold my breath and click, the ten gauge needle in. This was probably the most pain-LESS piercing I have ever had. After he slipped in the jewelry, Chris commented on it not being a dolphin, but a whale, due to the size of the hole it was sharing.

The night of: So far the blood has been comparable to what I had with my fresh apadravya (sorry I am comparing everything with my apa...) but the pain isn't really there like I had with it. I did a sea salt later that night, which resulted in a cup full of blood, but over all felt pretty good.

The next day: I woke up to a harden (with dried blood) roll of toilet paper that I had so much fun peeling off. I eventually soaked the wad of bloody rags off in a glass of warm water, which really simplified everything. After the tissue paper was off, I was in for a shock; the bleeding had pretty much stopped! Having gone through my first piercing where I was bleeding for at least 5 days after the piercing, I was more or less expecting the same with this one. I was wrong there; I went ahead and just soaked in the water for a minute washing the blood off the rest of me, then a shower. Even though the bleeding had seemed to stop, I didn't want to ruin my clothes on the off chance that it hadn't, so I decided it wouldn't hurt to wrap up in some gauze so I did (I didn't have any the night before that's why I used toilet paper.)

The next night: Some bruising is starting to form around the area and the blood is still pretty much non-existent; with the gauze from earlier in the day not having but a drop on it.

The days after: The bruising has vanished, and after the first night the only time I had a problem with the piercing was when I was hard (totally involuntary.) From the salt soaks my skin was starting to dry out to which I used some fragrant free lotion on. I was never told to do this, but I figured it wouldn't hurt, and to this day it hasn't. With the nightly salt soaks and provon cleanings, the piercing is healing just fine. At the present time of writing this, the dolphin is my favorite piercing out of the 12 on me.

Next up, I hope to get a forearm implant. ;)
