Hello I'm Anthony,

I just wanted to start by saying thanks to everyone that submitted their own experience, they all helped in some way. I got my Apadravya done nearly 3 weeks ago and I want to share my experience with you all. I have a few (6) other piercings but nothing too major (one being my frenum), enough to have previous experience with the routine.

In the beginning I was planning to get my Ampallang, but I decided on the Apadravya after taking into consideration a woman's anatomy, and the effects that the positioning of the jewelry would have during penetration. Just so you know, I did not jump right into this one. It's a serious piercing and it took a lot of thought and consideration. I researched for months and read hundreds of experiences, some moderate and others pretty intense. So, I felt I was ready to experience it for myself, knowing what to expect...lots of pain and a lengthy recovery. I was surprised with the outcome.

I finally built up the nerve and decided to get it done. I got to the shop (H.T.C. of west Phoenix) and was feeling pretty nervous but determined to get this piercing. I talked to the piercer for a while to get an idea about his method and any suggestions he may have for placement and aftercare. I ran a few things by him that I had heard along the way. Some true others fiction. Glad I did too. I read here that sea salt baths seemed to work well for someone, but I didn't take into consideration the bacteria in the tap water alone, not to mention what was on my body. I'm sticking with the distilled water in a coffee cup routine. After we talked for a while I felt pretty settled and more determined than ever.

We went into the room; I got onto the table and laid back, feeling my nervousness coming over me and remembering all the horrible experiences that I had read about over the past few months. John, (my piercer) cleaned and marked the area, then let me give the final approval. I liked the markings so it was a go. He pierced me with an 11-gauge needle, and used a 10-gauge barbell to minimize the bleeding. Which I would definitely recommend. He used a barbell that is 1/8 of an inch too long to compensate for swelling. He set the needle and told me to take a deep breath (nothing new) and then with one swift motion, on my exhale, pierced through the lower tissue urethra and the upper tissue. I was worried because of the stories about piercers stopping at the urethra and then continuing. I'm so glad he didn't and can say he did an excellent job. I'm not going to lie and say that this didn't hurt at all. I mean, come on. Look at where we're talking about. The truth is, the pain is totally tolerable. I tensed up a little, and broke my exhale for a split second, but it was nothing like I thought it was going to be. There was a little uncomfortable ness with the jewelry insertion, but it was due to the barbell being half a gauge larger than the needle.

That's not all though people. I was a little light headed, but nothing major. I was so glad, and proud, that I made it through this that I was a total chatterbox. John stopped me in mid sentence and told me that we needed to talk about the piercing. I got a little worried, and for good reason. He had missed his mark, not by much, but noticeable. He gave me 3 choices: take it out, let it heal, and come back; leave it the way it was, or take it out and forget it. I had come this far I wasn't going to give up, and sure as hell wasn't going to leave it the way it was. So I had him redo it.

The second time was more painful than the first, but still tolerable. I jumped a little, but he said it was nothing compared to what he had seen before. He put the jewelry back in and cleaned me up. Then he hooked me up with the rubber glove and bandage. I was bleeding, but not as much as I had expected.

I didn't swell much at all, and only for the first night. My bleeding stopped by my second morning, but I urinated blood clots for the next couple days. Urinating was uncomfortable for the first couple times, but got better quickly. I am getting very little build-up now and only occasionally causes blockage of the urethra. My first erection was uncomfortable, but after my third everything was feeling fine.

Now for my aftercare. I kept the piercing bandaged for the first four days for the bleeding and for padding against my clothing. I soak the piercing in sea salt once a day (ice water for the first night to minimize the bleeding) cool water the next couple of days, until the bleeding had stopped completely. I use luke warm water now. I use Q-tips to clean off the build-up around the openings, and off the jewelry. I wash in the shower with an anti-microbial soap called Satin, (which is much more gentle than Dial) once a day. I always urinate after my cleaning due to the fact that the soap kills both good and bad bacteria, which could lead to a urinary tract infection. The same goes for an anti-bacterial soap.

Just a tip, if you don't have to urinate, then don't clean until you do. If you are short on time, just do the salt soak and skip the wash until you have time and have to urinate.

I'm not going to attempt intercourse until I have my barbell shortened on my third week mark, but I masturbated for the first time about 16 days after the initial piercing and didn't have too much trouble. I'm not having any problems now, it does take some getting used to. I would definitely recommend a sea salt soak and cleaning afterward, along with urination to prevent build up in the urethra and around the openings.

Good luck with your piercing. I hope my experience has helped you.
