Last night I got my nipple pierced! Yay for me!

I have wanted my nipple pierced for about 4 years (since I was 15) but I class myself as a wuss and always chickened out. The difference with my nipple is that my parents both have it done so they couldn't tell me not to get it done. They just reminded me that it hurt a lot and that I don't really have the money to get it done, which is very true. Well my lucky day had come yesterday!
One of my best friends, Justin, is a body piercer at Dark Magik in Cannon Hill, Brisbane, and we had been trying to get a time together to get my nipple pierced for months. Yesterday he rang me and told me that he was training an apprentice and that if I wanted my nipple done I could come down after work. I was there as soon as I could! The apprentice, Ryan, was having 3 days of piercing this week, and all piercings were $5 if you got them done by him (they have to have an incentive I guess?) I've got to admit that getting pierced by an apprentice made me a little nervous, but I know Justin is excellent at what he does and I was in good hands. Ryan was also supervised by Shelly so I had no need to worry.
When I got there Justin and I sat around and chatted for about an hour about our weekend etc. and it was suddenly time to get pierced! I filled out the paperwork, talked to Ryan about what I wanted done and I left him to set up (under the watchful eye of Shelly) He called me in about 10 minutes later and got me to sit up on the chair. I've read about people lying down to get theirs done, but I was in what looked like a dentist/tattoo chair. I liked this better, to be seated.
I wasn't at all nervous about being topless in front of people, I'm quite happy with my body. I'm pretty flat chested (10A) so it's not like there's much to show anyway haha. In the room there was Ryan (The Apprentice), Justin (My Best Friend and Piercer), the studio's other body piercer Shelly who was training him and another apprentice. The other apprentice was a really nice guy and asked very politely if he could sit in on it as he hadn't done a nipple piercing before. I had no objections, the more he could learn the better! It was comforting knowing I had a lot of people around me – and more comforting knowing that all attention was really on Ryan and his performance.
I took off my shirt and bra as everyone got settled into the little room. He measured my nipple for size etc and we decided on a 14 guage 14mm long stainless steel flat barbell. By this time I was so nervous I was trying not to squirm. With guidance from Shelly, Ryan marked my nipple. It took him a few times to get it straight which is understandable for his first time but eventually he got it straight and we were on our way. He clamped my nipple (again, after a few tries but I don't blame him) and asked if I was ready. I told him I was and I held Justin's hand really tightly. I breathed in and on my out breath Ryan pierced me. I will honestly say it's the most painful piercing I've gotten – which I was surprised about because I don't have particularly sensitive nipples. It was slower than I expected, and I could definitely tell the difference between when it went in and when it kind of 'popped' out the other side. I did let out a kind of muffled yell when he did it. It was kind of like an aggravated grunt hahaha.
I breathed a sigh of relief as he cut the tubing and gave me a second to catch my breath. It hurt a bit when he put the barbell in, it was just a pinching tight feeling. He cleaned me up, there was the tiniest bit of blood, put a patch over it and let me get dressed.
Driving home from the studio my nipple was stinging and it's like it had heat waves. It would get really hot for a few seconds then go away. When I got home about an hour later I took some Panadol and had a shower and it was fine. I had tea and watched movies last night, tried not to move too much. My girlfriend only bumped it once by accident so it was fine apart from that. I didn't sleep with a bra on, just made sure it wasn't being squashed or anything when I was falling asleep. It never woke me up during the night and was fine in the morning. There were a few crusties of blood this morning but I cleaned it in the shower and it's doing well so far.
I am extremely happy with it. I was really nervous about getting pierced by an apprentice but he did a fantastic job and I know I was in safe hands as I had Justin and Shelly supervising. For his first ever nipple piercing I'm very proud of him :D
