After many years of yearning for a more intimate (and more personal) piercing I turned 18. I had been into body modification since I was 12, started stretching my lobes at 15, and received a tattoo at 16 (which, I admit, was too early. But don't get me wrong, I love my tattoo, but it was done for the wrong reasons) All of this gave me an image, and one that I didn't want. Trouble-maker was the big one. The thing that irritated me the most were the parents who would grab their child's arm while whispering "Honey, Come here NOW" or "I don't want you getting near that... that... that THING" Children are amazing, so full of curiosity and astonishment, while the adults are mortified at the thought of such a strange looking person. I retired all of my facial piercings and decided to tone it down a little. I decided to get something that could be easily hidden, while retaining the importance of being able to modify my body.

It was finally February 3, which was my 18th birthday. I had already been moved out of my parents home for 3 months (this piercing would not have been done if I were still living with them, out of respect), and after retiring a pair of ¾" lobes, Trip labrets, Tongue, Bridge and a nostril I decided to get a piercing that I could have even while working in a close-minded country. I had to go to work at 10 a.m., and work until 2 p.m.. After I got home from work, I got ready for the night ahead of me. Took a shower, ate, grabbed a nice bra and a tight shirt (which I liked a lot because it restricted movement) and did the rest of the stuff I wanted to do, seeing as I didn't want to be too active immediately after getting pierced. At around 7 p.m., I had my girlfriend bring me over to Shrap metal.

Upon entering the store I was greeted by Mike, who, among being incredibly professional and very helpful, was also one of the nicest and coolest guys you could meet. After filling out paperwork and showing some I.D. he took me into the back room. After being asked too, I took my shirt off, and laid down on the table. Mike gave my nipples a good cleaning and then marked a dot on each side of my right breast, and a dot on each side of my left breast. After checking the accuracy of the dots in the mirror I decided they were straight (on the FIRST time). Mike grabbed some forceps (clamps... whatever) and two packages of sterilized needles. He put the clamp on, told me to take a breath, and pushed the needle through, then he did the other nipple. After all this was done he put the jewelry in, and I heard "It's all over". I went (once again) to check myself out in the mirror. Everything looked perfect, there was a little blood, not much, and a 14 gauge barbell in each nipple.

A few people will tell you that the nipple hurts like hell. The experience didn't hurt for me, the only thing that I have found different is that during the 10 seconds it took to pierce my nipples, I learned more about myself than I have in 18 years. Oh, and the fact that I have shiny new barbells through each one of my nipples. After the piercing, my nipples were sore for maybe two hours, but nothing to much to handle. I didn't lose any sensitivity, instead I gained quite a bit.

I have been following my piercers aftercare instructions to a tee, and have had absolutely no problems whatsoever. I'm not one of those kids who goes around showing everyone my new piercings so I'm not very worried about contamination, and the only hands that have touched them are my own, after being washed. I'm sure, if I had allowed people to touch or anything of that sort, I would have had problems. Thankfully, I have quite a bit of patience, and my girlfriend is very understanding, so I haven't had any problems there either. If you expect to get a piercing like this and decide not to acknowledge the proper aftercare instructions and hygiene, don't complain about a bad piercing please.

Any type of piercing (that is done for personal, or spiritual reasons) is amazing. If you want to get a nipple piercing I would encourage you to go out there and do it (after researching). Make sure you go to a quality piercer and be careful to follow the aftercare. I am sure you will agree that it is a very rewarding experience.

My name is Dominique, I have had no problems with the law, I am a respected member of the community, I love children and animals, am drug/poison free, and I am a hard worker. Yes, I love body modification, should it matter?
