I've wanted to get my nipples pierced ever since I was about 15. Of course, I was a bit young at the time, but I knew that when I grew older, I wanted to have lovely steel running through my nipples. Now, this particular goal took me a while to get around to. First it was parental disapproval, then cold feet, then simply lack of an impetus to act. Finally, through some encouragement from my boyfriend (we'll just call him "B"), and to celebrate a breakthrough in my life's path, I finally got up the balls, and the money, to bite the bullet and go for it.
At A Glance Author Psychoktten Contact Rayella@aol.com When It just happened Artist Donnie Studio Nathan's Location Canoga Park I'm lucky enough to live near an incredible parlor; Nathan's. This place is spotlessly clean, and its staff is kept constantly up to date through classes and seminars. Not to mention that I've heard countless glowing stories from newly minted body-mod recipients. So, in I go to talk to a piercer or two. This is when I meet Donnie. As we discussed probable gauges and positioning, I noticed that she was exited not only to do the piercing, but for me to get the piercing. This decided me. Anyone who enjoys what they do so much that they're thrilled to give you something that you're going to love and get years of enjoyment out of, is someone I want piercing me!
Now, I'm a hardcore masochist, and into the BDSM scene, so I had to know that these piercings were going to take the punishment that I was (eventually) hoping to pile upon them. In fact, the first thing B said when he found out I was going to do it was "oooh.. it'll be so much fun to run chains through them and tie you to things." So you can see what the poor things are up against. Donnie laughed and told me not to worry, that if I was planning on heavy play, we'd pierce them with 12g, then stretch to 10g once they were healed. She explained to me how the higher gauges actually make the piercing more stable, and less likely to rip out. She then related a few highly amusing stories about her own nipple piercings that put me at ease about the abuse that my future holey bits would have to endure.
Now, I'm a sexual masochist. I do things like cutting and whipping for the sheer joy of the sensation. But I was terrified. I have big breasts and very sensitive nipples, and the thought of sticking 12g needles through those two very sensitive nubs of flesh was enough to give me second thoughts. But, this was something I'd always wanted, and I wasn't about to let my silly fears bar me from that.
So I come in a few days later, B in tow for moral support. The shop was busy, and Donnie had a labret and a bellybutton in line ahead of me, so B and I cooled our heels, filled out paperwork and browsed the flash art. The waiting got me all jumpy again, but when my turn came Donnie immediately put me at ease, laughing with me about how I look like the type that would enjoy it, and telling me funny stories of other patrons. She was scrupulous in her cleanliness, showing me the safety precautions and sterility of everything up front.
Once we got into the back room, we discussed placement and angle. She really took her time lining up the dots so that they fell with the lines of my breasts, not simply straight across. This is a big point for me, as I've always believed that body mods should help to accentuate the body's lines, not work against them, as I've seen so many tattoos and piercings do.
When it came to the actual procedure, she was quick, efficient, and the pain was really minimal. She told me how to breathe, and gave me ample warning before she stuck the needle through me. The first one felt more like heat than pain, but the second one gave me a bit of a twinge. And, by "a bit of a twinge", I mean it hurt like a bitch, but only for a split second.
After the procedure, she let me lay on the table until I felt ready to get up, and gave me the whole "Care and feeding of your new piercing" speech. Once I stood up, and we got a good look at them, we were all thrilled. They look absolutely beautiful. They look so great, in fact, that in a couple of weeks I'm going to go back to take pictures for her portfolio.
Donnie is, simply put, an amazing piercer. She's a rising star in the LA scene, and I'm glad that I found her. She's definitely going to be doing all of my future piercings, and she's taking a seminar on cutting soon. I've already volunteered to be her guinea pig for that. I simply love cutting. :)
