My first experience of body piercing was when I was 16 and wanted my nipple pierced, I had heard about it at school because another girl had it done and it sounded really cool. After a lot of thinking it through, looking at jewelry and weighing up the pros and cons I went for it, had the other one done a few months later and thought that was the end of it.

Looking through a tattoo magazine one day I stumbled across a picture of someone with a vertical nipple piercing and for some reason it had never really crossed my mind before that I could get this as well, seeing as I loved the experience of getting pierced and having my piercings. I did a bit more research on the internet and saw that it was possible to get a vertical nipple piercing behind the horizontal one and kept thinking about it, until one day I decided to just get on and have it done, otherwise I'd never know.
I went to a studio in Coventry at first and when I asked about it they said it would be pierced with a banana bar, which made me a bit wary as it meant it would go really quite deep into me! I checked out a studio in Leamington that my friend liked and the guy told me that this was nonsense and they could use a straight bar which made me feel better about it. I was also glad that I had asked around as it would have been a mistake to settle with the first studio. My friend went with me to the studio when I came back later, and we'd only been there a week earlier when he'd had a nape piercing done which had given me back the piercing bug!
I was already starting to feel the adrenaline and nerves which I'd missed since the last time I'd got something done. I took off my top and bra (being topless seemed quite natural to me so this was not a problem in front of a stranger and my friend who came with me). I sat up while he marked where the needle would go through and it looked cool, so he numbed me a bit while my hands gripped the table in anticipation of pain.
It goes without saying that he wore gloves and used a new needle and autoclaved jewelry, so I felt that I was in safe hands. He put the clamps on and this felt a bit odd as they had to pull the first piercing away from me in order to get to the flesh underneath! I felt the needle go through quite slowly as I gripped the table and I'm not going to pretend it did not hurt! But it was a good pain that I could keep hold of and that probably got rid of a lot of frustration! I'm sure other people can relate to this.
My friend was watching in the mirror as he could not bear to look straight at the needle going through me. The piercer put the bar in quickly and screwed on the balls, leaving me to look at it while I put my clothes on. And there it was! It throbbed for the first day or two and moving around was a bit uncomfortable but it healed quickly and soon after I got the other one done, so that now I have four nipple piercings in total. I would highly recommend the piercing studio I went to as the guy was very professional and friendly, making me feel more relaxed about getting a needle shoved through my flesh! I got my nose pierced a while ago and found it to be much less painful that the nipples, more like being hit than a sharp pain.
Since getting my nipples pierced I have found that I prefer bars to rings, probably because I was pierced with bars and the curved rings feel odd, like they're going the wrong way! I have changed the colors of the bars and put spikes on the end, and have slightly smaller bars in the horizontal ones as they are at the front so a bit less long. One thing I would say about having pierced nipples is that they get much more sensitive, which is really cool. Having to hide them from my mum has been easy provided I don't wear just a t-shirt or they would show through completely.
Most of my female friends do not see the point in getting it done, they are all extremely squeamish but I guess that makes me feel like I can do something that a lot of other people are scared to do. The next thing I'm thinking of getting done is my vertical clit hood, basically I'm interested in any 'hidden' piercings. Overall it was a really cool experience and if I had a hundred nipples I would get them all done!
