I was extremely disappointed. I had come to Blue Line two days before my birthday to discuss getting my septum pierced. I had been waiting to get that piercing for awhile, and it was finally almost time. I had one thing left to do before I could go and get it pierced, and that was ask my dad. I was informed that if I got a piercing, he would take it out. I didn't feel like wasting thirty-six dollars.

Although my friend Christina had planned to go with me to get my septum pierced, now that my desired septum was no longer an option we decided to just go to LaCrosse and hang around. As we were making the half hour drive, I was mulling over getting a little tattoo instead, when Christina started talking about wanting her nipple pierced. I had almost forgotten about how I had wanted that piercing when I was younger, and now it seemed like the perfect thing to get done. No one would see it unless I showed them, and I really liked the idea.

I decided ten minutes from the shop that I was going to get it done. I was a little concerned about the possibility of having difficulty breast feeding in that far off time when I'll have children, which is why Christina suggested getting just one done, but when I asked the guys at the shop they told me that there would be no problem, so I went for both.

I got a great deal, Skuder gave me ten dollars off as a birthday discount, so it came to 70 dollars total. I was really nervous as I was filling out the forms. My friend pointed out that I was shaking, and I just smiled. I saw a sign saying 'No Checks' and realized I didn't have enough cash. Nina ran across the street to an ATM to get me some cash while I waited, filling out the forms, and talking to three women who were there. One of them was getting some sort of tattoo, and they asked me what I was having done. When I said nipple piercing, they cringed and said that they could never do it, and asked me if I was nervous. I said yeah I was a little nervous, and they asked me to let them know how it went after I was done.

After Nina came back with my cash, I went into the room where the piercing is done, and Skuder went over the aftercare with me and answered my questions. Christina came in and held my clothes, and my nipples were marked off for where the piercing would be. Because I would be lying down, I couldn't have my hand held. So I got a stress ball, and waited. First there was a clamp, and he told me to take a deep breath and hold it. The needle went in, and he commented that it was a little difficult because he thought there was some tougher tissue, like scar tissue that was making it harder. It wasn't too painful, the deep breaths definitely helped me concentrate on something else. Although the first one took longer and seemed to go through harder, the second one was a little more intense but it was also quicker. The pain only lasted for as long as the needle was through and there was maybe something like a slight burning after that. After the needle was through and the jewelry was in place, I stood up and looked at them, and I was very, very happy. I even got a sucker for being tough. My left nipple, the one that went through a little harder, was a little sore, but mostly it was fine. Occasionally if the piercing catches a little I can feel a sort of pinch, but other than that it has gone smoothly. There didn't seem to be much swelling either.

All in all I have a fairly high pain tolerance so I wasn't too bothered by this piercing. I actually loved getting pierced. I had silver barbells put in, it's now the day after, and I'm experiencing absolutely no pain or discomfort. My left nipple was slightly sore last night, but other than that it has been completely fine and pain free. I absolutely love my piercings, they're very straight, and they look awesome. I'm using saline solution to clean them and taking warm showers. I recommend getting a nipple piercing even if you're worried about the pain, it isn't terrible. Just make sure you are ready to have it done, because otherwise you can scare yourself into making the pain worse. Also make sure your piercer is reputable, I had heard great things about Skuder and I was not disappointed in the least, he did an amazing job.
