I think to an extent, I'd always had a thing about piercings. I don't know if it was the oddly nice pain of the needle going through, or the way they looked afterwards that attracted me so much. Either way, I love piercings and am planning on getting many.

There's just one problem stopping me. My parents. I'm only 17, still living at home, and living under my parent's rules. And one of their rules is "No piercings", which means that I'm limited to my double lobe piercings and left tragus until I move out and go to university.

So I have a dilemma. Do I wait until I move out to go metal mad, or just sneakily have a few done until that time? The latter of course, I'm a rebellious teenager after all.

So I decided that I would get my nipples pierced. I got my left horizontal done on May 1st of last year. I had nothing to do on that day and had money on me, so thought that I'd go through with it. I went to Bodyworks, the piercing place that's just around the corner from me. I'd been in there a few months previously with my friend who had her tongue pierced. It was clean and fresh in there, they had the air conditioning going, and they made me feel really relaxed. I can't remember what procedure they used that time, but I remember that the piercing itself hardly hurt, and they used a 1.6mm BCR. I was really pleased with myself for going through with it on my own. Afterwards, I loved knowing that I was walking around with a little secret of my own. The healing process was fantastic, and I had no problems with it whatsoever.

The second piercing I got was four months later on September 1st. I'd recently broken up with my boyfriend of 19months and just wanted something to change with myself, so I though I'd go for another nipple piercing. I chose to go for a vertical nipple piercing as I thought I'd go for something a little unusual. I also thought that id would be a lot easier to hide one pierced nipple from my parents then two. I also wanted to have one unpierced nipple, just to feel the different sensations between the two. This time I decided to go to Brighton's Perforations for my left vertical nipple. I'd had my tragus done there on May 3rd and there were brilliant. I went with my friend, who had always fantasised about watching me get a piercing. The procedure went really well. He used numbing spray on my nipple which came in really handy, as this one hurt a lot more then the first piercing. He sterilised the area, and marked out where he was going to pierce. He told me to check that I was happy with it which I was. He pierced it with a 1.6 x 16mm bar this time, probably because it would have been difficult to have a ring in the vertical piercing as it would have been irritated by the vertical piercing. During the whole procedure, the three of us just kept talking about random stuff, mainly about piercings but other stuff as well. When the needle actually went through it hurt like hell. I don't even want to think about how much it would have hurt had I not had the numbing spray. The piercing itself bled quite a lot, probably because it went behind the original piercing and was therefore deeper and longer. The healing process was great for that piercing too.

Yesterday, I broke up from school for Easter holidays. My friend said that she wanted to go and get her ears pierced, and I suddenly thought "ooh, I fancy getting my nipple done again today". I think it's best to have a very short space of time between physically wanting a piercing and actually going through with it. I know that it's been a case of me thinking I want to get a piercing and then that day I go through with it. Less time to think about it and back out of it ;-)

So I went home after school, picked up my passport and went to Bodyworks again with my friend. She decided not to get her ears pierced because it's expensive for lobe piercings in piercing places I've found. There was no-one in the place so I could go straight in. I had a quick conversation with my piercer, and asked if it was OK for my friend to come in with me. She could, so we went into the room and I started getting undressed whilst he was preparing the needle and stuff. I sat down and he told me to take my top off and have a seat. He laughed when he turned around and I was already there waiting. He said that I was part of the crowd today. It was one of the first days of spring, baking weather, so everyone had wanted their nipples pierced. My friend and I laughed and talked with him whilst he marked up my nipples. He was just about to start the actual piercing itself when I realised he'd marked my nipple up wrong. As I already had a '+' in the left nipple, I wanted to have an 'x' in the right nipple. So I asked him to clean the markings off and do it again. He didn't mind doing that, but imagine how I would have been if I hadn't realised. I always get nervous just as I'm about to get pierced, I just want to run like a bat out of hell when that needle comes out. I don't know what I was talking about with my friend when the needle went through, but it was enough to make her laugh about it afterwards. The piercing really hurt, and bled a little. He put a 1.6mm BCR in and cleaned me up a little. The whole experience was slightly uncomfortable, but the most painful part was the piercing itself. The movement of the needle and ring was just uncomfortable.

After I'd put my top back on, I thanked the piercer and left soon after. I was going out with my friends afterwards, and my top was quite tight, so I had to go and buy another top. Not the best of things, but oh well.

The advice that I would give to anyone contemplating a nipple piercing is go for it. The pain is moderate but brief, and it looks really good. My nipples are 1000 times more sensitive then they were before which is a definite bonus. My boyfriend loves them, he got so turned on yesterday when I told him I'd had it done. And ironically my gay friend also likes playing with my piercings. He's odd... my final piece of advice would be to go to a place where they have numbing spray. It helps.

Oh. And take a friend. They make it a lot more bearable by providing a distraction with the conversation.

Enjoy your new piercing
