Well, hello to everyone that reads this! My name is Jennie, and this experience is all about my latest puncture; my nipple. So, firstly I shall give you a bit of background so you understand why my experience is different to everyone else's:
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon When A week ago Studio Bodyworks Location Croydon, London I have been pierced since I was 13 years old (I was a typical teenager, and couldn't wait a few years!). I never really had a studio that I went to regularly, but one of the studio's I did visit for a new hole was Bodyworks which is in Croydon, in London. They pierced my tongue and were brilliant! Unfortunately I started to go to a studio (which won't be named) and became good friends with the shop owner, I got a great discount on piercing's and he seemed really professional (shame he buggered up my double tongue piercing! Eh?!)
I don't really know why I kept on going back there! Maybe it was the discount! It was pretty much half price on piercing's, the jewellery, and what was even better was that I could pay him back when I wanted! Being a student, that went down really well!
One day, he asked if I wanted him to pierce my nipple and as a spare of the moment thing I went for it! I was pierced at 1.6mm with a BCR. Damn, it hurt so badly!! And month after month, it carried on hurting. I couldn't understand it because I had been really good with cleaning it (sea salt soaks twice a day, it became a ritual I couldn't ever miss out on)!
Anyway, after about half a year of having it in, it was like it had been freshly pierced, but obviously in very bad condition, as it had started bleeding and pussing! I was really, really scared at this point and just took it out there and then! To be honest I had wanted to for some time – it had become so unbelievably sensitive I couldn't stand to even clean it anymore!
About a year after I took the poor thing out, it was all healed up and looking as if it was never pierced, I decided that I wanted another piercing. I didn't want any more facial piercing's, I am in the process of stretching my ears, and have everything else I want pierced at the moment (well, until my birthday anyway!!).
Then I thought... "Hmm... how about giving my nipple a second chance?" I did a lot of research on BME and other websites, and decided on having a barbell in it to start off with instead of the BCR. Then, the problem arose, what studio do I go to? I didn't want to go back to my old place, but didn't want to go all the way up to Camden to Cold Steel.
I did a list of all the pros and cons of the studio's I had been to and Bodyworks came out tops. So, off I toddled with a mate to get it done. When we arrived at their new studio I was surprised about how comfortable it was and the girls working in there were so friendly and helpful.
I wanted to wait a while to pluck up my nerves and 15 minutes later I was called in, and immediately I forgot my nerves. The girl was so so nice and really made me relaxed. We went through the usual routine, marking up and everything (we decided that we would go above the scar tissue from the last time) and through the needle went! So, quick, and so gentle! It didn't hurt half as much as last time, and it was actually my least painful piercing!
A week later, and my piercing hasn't hurt at all! Honestly! No crusties and no bleeding! It feels as if its healed and I hope it stays that way! It is so pretty, and now my favourite piercing! The last two nights I have been to gigs and for Killswitch Engage I thought that the most sensible thing to do would be to wear my gel bra to give that extra bit of padding. I was really paranoid that it would get knocked and that's where the pain would start but, nothing! Last night I went to Green Day and wore a normal bra and even though it got knocked a bit, it just didn't hurt! I keep on having to look down my top to make sure it's still there!!
I would recommend it to anyone, but make sure you are happy with which studio you go to!
I think I am proof that just because one person has had a bad experience with a piercing, it doesn't mean it will happen again!
So, lastly, if you are reading this, and want your nipple pierced, then go for it! I've fallen in love with mine!
Only problem is... I want the other one pierced now!!
