Ever since I was 13 I had always wanted to get something other than my ears pierced. I was (and still am) hell-bent on getting my tongue pierced, however due to the fact that I still live at home and need parental consent, I haven't had it pierced. I assumed that if they didn't want me to get my tongue pierced, they wouldn't have all that much of a problem with getting a more "mainstream" piercing, so I asked if I could get my bellybutton pierced. That also never eventuated, so I started browsing BME for other possible piercings that my parents need not discover. A lot of the photos of nipple piercings fascinated me, but I never thought I would have the guts to actually have a 14 gauge needle shoved through my nipple, until lunchtime yesterday..

Needless to say, I soon found out that he was having a sale, and that all piercings were $60, until the end of October. I had the money with me, and I had done my research, so I thought "Why the hell not!". I had made sure that the studio was clean and Justin was a friendly guy and put me at ease, so I decided I would go through with it then and there. He told me to go into the studio and I asked him stupidly if I should take my top off, and he told me that would probably be a good idea. I don't think by that stage that what I was about to do had actually sunk in. As I sat on the edge of the bench while he marked my nipple, I felt as though I was watching someone elses BME story! It was all very surreal as I watched Justin get all his equipment ready, and put on his gloves, and mark my nipple, and it all had a rather clini cal feel to it. I laid down on the bench, and Justin told me I was going to feel a slight pinch as he put the clamps on (though in all honesty I didn't feel a thing! Not sure whether that was because of the adrenalin or not) and he then told me that he was going to count to three, and by the time he got there the needle would be all the way through my nipple. I'm not going to lie and say that it didn't hurt, because well, it did! It is the strangest pain and hard to describe, however on some other level it is also quite a liberating experience! I was now going to feel slight pressure in the other direction as my jewellery of choice - a plain bar with blue titanium balls on either end - was inserted. Having the jewellery inserted felt much similar to the needle being pushed through, however not quite severe. Justin screwed the ball on and cleaned up the piercing. I had just got my nipple pierced! Justin then explained how I had to look after the piercing - betadine (an antis eptic liquid) twice a day, and no changing of the jewellery prematurel y (which wasn't going to be a problem because I have no money!) - and then told me to take my time getting up off the bench. He cleaned his hands and told me I had definitely picked a good piercing to venture into the world of body modification with. I dressed myself and walked into the foyer to pay him, and thanked him for piercing me. I told him he shouldn't be too surprised if he sees me again before October, and thanked him again for such a wonderful first experience.
I walked out of the studio with a rather childish giddy feeling, and it was a strange experience walking past people who knew nothing of what I had just gone through. I had to go to work that night (I'm a checkout chick) and contrary to what I thought might be the case, I had no problems with doing things as I would normally have. By 9pm that night, the piercing was fine, and didn't hurt unless I directly touched it. I left the gauze pad on until the next morning, just to make sure that it would have a chance to heal initially, and when I took it off in the shower this morning I fell in love instantly.
I would definitely recommend Justin to anyone wanting anything pierced in the Canberra region, and for anyone thinking about getting their nipple pierced - just do it! It is such a liberating experience having something pierced just for yourself and knowing that no one will know I have my nipple pierced unless I want them to know!
