It all started when my best friend and I moved in together one block away from a tattoo and piercing shop. I can't recall the reason we first went in, I don't think either of us even got anything done but we ended up hanging out there a lot because it was a nice place with a great leather couch and the guys there were really cool.

Studio New Breed Location Indianapolis, IN My friend ended up getting a tattoo, well she wound up with five but that's another story. I, however, wanted a piercing. So we did what anyone here reading this is doing and searched BME high and low, pinching various parts of our bodies trying to figure out how painful a particular piercing would or wouldn't be. It was pretty silly, so silly that my friend got tired of doing it and said, "if you pierce your nipples, I pierce my hood." And that was it, I locked myself in. I hadn't even had my ears pierced yet and I really hate needles but it didn't matter, a deal's a deal.
So the day we went in I think I smoked about half a pack of cloves because I was so freaked. We got there and I showed them my I.D. and signed their papers. After a bit of a wait, and a few more cloves, he took us back into the piercing room. It was very small but very clean and his apprentice came to watch with my permission.
The first thing that freaked me out was the little tray with all the instruments on it, including the dreaded needle. I think my heart started racing three times faster at just seeing it. But I pulled my dress down, took my bra off, and laid back on the table. The entire time I was singing some nonsense song about how dumb I was and that I couldn't believe I was doing this which seemed quite entertaining for the three other people in the room. My friend was on my right side holding my hand and the piercer was cleaning the area and then making two purple dots to show where he would enter and exit. I approved and so he grabbed the clamps, which didn't hurt at all. Girls, if you like them pinched or sucked on, clamps are no worse. He opened the needle next, which was in a new plastic seal and told me to take three deep breaths and on my last exhale he would do it. At this point I expected a world of pain....
The needle went in and what I felt was a deep warming sensation. In fact, it felt great! I was so incredibly excited that it wasn't horrifically painful that I happily sat up and flipped to the other side for the next one to be done. BTW, having the jewelry put in didn't hurt either. So we go through the same process and this time I'm smiling! When the needle went through there was an instant of sharp pain, but it was followed with that same warming feeling. I was a little shocked but it was so quick I couldn't complain. However, my confused look made the piercer tell me that you loose all your adrenaline on the first one, but he wasn't going to tell me that before hand.
So I nearly skipped out to my car, my friend was really psyched too. The cleaning process was very easy, it stung a bit but it's actually a nice feeling. Something you can't experience unless you have it done. My only concern with them ever is that I don't have very protruding nipples and he didn't pierce them very deep so if I move the ring down I can see it through my flesh. I did have blackline jewelry though, but it is a bit unnerving. I went to a different piercer to have them checked and make sure they were okay. She said that as long as they aren't moving and aren't bothering me they are okay but she worried that they could be pulled out easily. Thankfully, I don't think that is going to happen, it hasn't yet at least.
Now, two years later, they are doing fine. I took them out once, for a week and they started to close up so now I can only put 18 gauge in them, they were done at 14, but I still love them. My favorite jewelry is a circular barbell because trying to get the bead out of a CBR can take a little too much pulling for me but anything looks good in them.
For anyone considering this piercing, if I, Miss Scared of Needles and Never had a Piercing Before girl can do it, so can you. It's totally worth it. I can't imagine my nipples without them!
