Like so many others, I'd stumbled onto BME (thanks google!) and spent quite a while looking round. I knew I wanted my nipples pierced and looked through the images and read the experiences. Some of the other piercings looked a bit too hardcore for me, but I knew pierced nipples were the way to go.

I was home alone one weekend and decided that today was the day for my first piercings. I knew that Bodyworks were in Croydon so tried to eat breakfast before I left to check them out. A combination of nerves and excitement meant that eating was easier said than done - but I managed to finish a few slices of toast.

I walked into the studio and looked round. Luckily for a Saturday it wasn't too busy. There were a couple of people at the counter and one other waiting. I glanced round and was taken by the amazing and somewhat graphic photos on the wall. Every conceivable piercing was on show. When the guy behind the counter was free, I went up a told him that I wanted my nipples pierced. 'Both?' he asked. 'Yeah, both', I smiled. 'Good Man - fill out this form, then take a seat. Shouldn't be too long, just an eyebrow and navel to go' he replied. The waiting was the worst bit and the 10 or so minutes felt like hours.

Finally the piercer (I forget his name) called my name and I followed him into the studio. Everything, like the main room was spotlessly clean. A black dentist-like chat sat in the middle of the room, a large mirror on one wall and cupboard and a worktop chock full of needles and equipment on another. I took my t-shirt off and he asked if I had been pierced before. On hearing my 'No' he explained what he was going to do. He measured my nipples (a good size apparently!) and I chose the barbells I wanted. He talked me through marking up the entry and exit points and asked me to check in the mirror. They looked fine, so I sat back in the chair. He was talking all the way through, explaining what he was doing. The clamps went on (ouch!) - evil looking things too - and he asked me to breathe slowly in then out - the needle went through as I breathed out. I looked down and loved what I saw. It had hurt - but it was over so quick. Knowing I had one more still to go I conc entrated on my breathing as he fitted the bar. It looked great. He pierced the second one (I made sure I could see it happen this time), yep it hurt, but I liked it. Hmmm - I had the feeling this may be the start of something!

I must just mention my piercers mods. I'd seen pictures, but had never seen someone with a massive stretched septum, such huge lobes and some amazing tattoos - he was wearing a vest and shorts - his arms and legs were covered - I felt kinda jealous!

After both piercings were done, he told me to say seated for a while, whilst he explained the aftercare - I don't think I was listening - I was too busy staring at my reflection! He put a bandage over both nipples - I was bleeding a bit and I gingerly but my t-shirt back on. Once out in the main room I paid and left with a very big smile on my face.

The next 12 hours were painful. Very tender nipples - like a dull throbbing. They started to bruise too - I have since learnt that I always do after any piercing. A bit of a sleepless night and cleaning the scabs around the piercing was a delicate task. But I followed the aftercare instructions and had no problems with the healing. I must add that fitted t-shirts are now a lot more fun!

About 4 months after I decided that I wanted to change the straight bars to circular bars. It also seemed the perfect time to get them stretched up a size as they were starting to looked a bit pathetic! This was as fun as the original piercing. I went back to Bodyworks and asked to be stretched up. No wait this time and also had a chance to have a chat with the guy that did my original piercings as he took me back into the piercing room. I took my top off and he cleaned me up and showed me the tapers. He took out the 1st bar and in went the taper, he coaxed it through , laughed at the face I was pulling and (eventually) put the new bar in. Ditto with the other and I was done. The studio was empty so after I paid I chatted to the piercer a bit more and enquired after a PA. Yeah, you know I got that piercing bug! He explained that it was no big deal, easy to heal (and a lot of fun). Food for thought on the way home.

It took a few days to get used to the bigger bars, obviously they also had to get used to me too, and I was conscious of that dull throbbing again for a day or so but they settled down nicely.

A piercing well worth getting - extra sensitive nipples, especially in bed and in the cold (!) and the girls love em. A PA next, bring it on....
