I had never really contemplated getting my nipple pierced as I was afraid of the pain and I have seen many that don't look too crash hot. However as is always the way, the things that repel you are often the most interesting to research.

As my father had given me a gift voucher for Aztec Beauty Concepts I was limited in my choice of where to go.
This also made me question what I would get done. I really wanted a vertical lip piercing but because it is a little unusual I thought it would be better to go to someone with more experience in strange modifications like Shannon from STR at Wyong, rather than get it done by some prim and proper old lady who would look at me as though I was asking her to swallow a cat.
However, the gift voucher was for Aztec so I had to consider something else. I looked and looked and read all the stories on BME about Lips, Labrets, Industrials and Nipples. The more I thought about it, the idea of a nipple piercing got better and better.
Then out of the blue I got a job, working in a rather conservative shop where I'm sure they do not approve of facial piercing. So that was that. The others could wait, I had decided on my nipple.
Next I had to choose which one to do. I thought about getting both done because I was worried about being obsessed with symmetry, but I was more worried about the pain involved with getting both.
Also I have a little birthmark under my right nipple and with it pierced it might have looked really cluttered (my breasts are not all that big). So I decided to just get my left one done to begin with.
I went in beforehand and I met Saskia. She was really nice and answered all my questions. Yes, they had an autoclave. Yes, she could sterilise my old jewellery. Yes, it hurts but only for a moment.
I felt better about meeting her first and I was reassured that she was not an uptight old lady. She had been piercing for about three years and was sporting quite a few body mods herself.
I went home to think about it more and to talk it over with my boyfriend, who was very supportive.
The next afternoon when my boyfriend got home from work he wanted to go to the shops so I asked if we could pop in to Aztec as well. He didn't believe that I was actually going to do it. I rung up, made sure Saskia would be there and told her I would be in about quarter to 7.
We had to do a few errands at other places so my mind was taken off the impending pain. However time soon came around for us to head over to Tuggerah where Aztec is.
We ended up getting there more than half an hour early, so I went in to talk to Saskia again and to give her my jewellery to be sterilised. I almost chickened out and got a numbing patch but decided against it as I was too poor. She promised that she would be as fast as possible.
I had a few bites to eat and then it was really time. My boyfriend opted to stay outside as he more scared than I was, but it was good because it makes me less nervous when I am alone.
Saskia ushered me into the other room and sat me down on the bench with pillows to rest back against. I took off my top and she wiped me down with an anti-bacterial wipe. She then marked the spot with a black marker thingy (of which I was a bit wary, because of cross contamination. Oh well). She got out all the necessary tools and snapped on her gloves.
She told me that it would be best to concentrate on something in the room or to keep talking to her while she did it. I was silently fighting panic mixed with exhilaration right about now.
She moved in close and I started to babble away about everything and nothing. I could feel the clamps which weren't pleasant but weren't as bad as some people make them out to be.
Then.
Bang!
"There you go" she said.
"Fuck" I whispered.
She asked me if I was alright and surprisingly I was.
"OUCH" I said more out of relief than pain.
Then it was time for the jewellery. Now I think THAT is the worst part. Ewwwww. It makes me shudder just thinking about it. It hurt a bit but then it was over.
The piercing itself was the weirdest sensation. It was as though someone was sticking a skewer through my whole body really slowly but at the same time really fast. I can still feel it when I think about it.
She wiped off the little bit of blood there was and cleaned it with anti-bacterial spray. Going over the aftercare was a little hazy because I was so excited, but I paid as much attention as I could. I paid her and bounded out of the store eager to show it off. But I didn't, until we got home that is.
So far it has been three days and everything seems to be going fine. It only spots blood if I poke it and is a little tender. I am washing it in the shower and then using an anti-bacterial spray 2-3 times everyday. The only problem is that with the spray my skin tends to get rather dry, as happened with my stretched ears, but no problem so far.
I would recommend getting it done to anyone as it didn't hurt as much as I thought it was going to and they look so pretty. Also I would suggest not thinking about it beforehand (easier said than done, I know) but try to make yourself busy, so there is no chance of freaking yourself out.
