I got my nipples pierced about two months ago. For a couple of years, I'd known that if I got anything else pierced, it would be my nipples. I've never been that big in to facial piercings of my own, and I wasn't and am not yet ready for genital piercings, but, for one reason or another, I felt like my nipples needed to be pierced. I knew I would do it eventually, but I hadn't gotten around to it yet. When I moved to England in September, I met a guy, Matt, who had several piercings and he became one of my best friends. I guess knowing him and talking about piercings a lot made me start thinking more about getting my nipples done, deciding if I really truly wanted them done, and if I was ready for it. I decided I was, but again, I didn't know when I would do it. Then in January, Matt and I went to London for him to get an apadravya. We went to the London Piercing Clinic, and I met Patrick, Nicky, and Alex. They were really great. Nicky is American, and I hadn't talked to another American that I liked since I'd left the states, so I really had a great time talking to her. Anyway, I found out that Patrick was retiring in April and I decided that if I were ever going to get pierced, I wanted to do it there, and I should really do it soon, since they would all be leaving soon. About a week after Matt got his apadravya, he told me that he was going back to London on 21 Feb. to get his temples pierced. That would, of course, be the perfect time to get my nipples done too. I still wasn't entirely sure I was ready to get them done, so I gave myself a week to think about it. I made myself go on to BME every day and read experiences and look at pictures, so I would know what I was getting myself in to, and what to expect. Before the week was even up, I knew I wanted to do it. Waiting the next two weeks was just horrible. I was ready to get it done! Finally, the 21st rolled around.

Nicky was going to pierce me, so she measured me up for the ring size. We decided on a 2.4-mil 16 rings. She warned me that bars would probably be better at first, for comfort and healing and all, but I really had my heart set on rings, so that's what I got. Soon everything was cleaned, set up, and ready to go, so I got undressed and sat on the table. To be honest, I expected to be a little more self-conscious (Matt, Alex, Nicky, and a girl I had just met named Sophie were all in the room) but it actually didn't bother me at all. Nicky marked where the needles would go through, and I checked to make sure they were straight. Now, all that was left was the piercing. I have a bit of a needle phobia. Nothing too bad, but bad enough to make me pretty nervous. So Matt held my hand while I was being pierced. The right one hurt quite a bit more than the left on e, but neither of them felt very good. To be honest, I don't even remember the pain anymore. It hurt at the time, obviously, but it was quick. A lot of experiences I had read said something about a crunching sound, but I don't remember hearing it. I wish I could write more about the actual piercing, but I guess I've kind of blocked it from my memory.
Matt forgot his camera, so I didn't think I would get pictures, but Patrick came in when one of them had been done, and he got some pictures. Can't wait to see them. After they were finished, I got to look in the mirror, and I just loved them! Still do!
The next day, they were really, really sore. Matt said I was scowling all day. On the second day, there was still a little blood, but not too much. Most of the pain came from the rings moving, but Nicky had warned me that they would. That was why she recommended bars. But I really loved the rings, so I didn't mind the extra pain. By the third day, all the blood was gone and they were starting to crust. We were staying in London over the weekend, so when we got home on Sunday night, I started salt soaks twice a day. And every day, they were feeling a little better. By the fifth day, I could barely feel any pain. By the second week, all the pain was gone and they were starting to feel really good. I've had them for two months now, and they're still a little crusty, but that's to be expected. I'm very happy with my newest piercings!
