My experience was about a year ago. I wanted a piercing so bad. I went with a few of my friends and saw them get their piercings done. Some were eyebrow piercings, lip piercings, nipple piercings, bellybutton piercings. And a few of them had genital piercings. I'm whet society would call a freak, and all my friends would be considered the same. So every where I go I'm surrounded my tattoos and piercings. At metal shows, everyone has something pierced or inked. So naturally I've been obsessed with the whole, tattoo, piercing, and body modification culture for as long as I can remember. I used to love watching those documentaries, on the different tribes, and their culture. Each of them had different modification rituals. Some would stick clay plates in their bottom lips, and stretch it. Others did face tattooing. Others did branding and scarification. My favourite was the Hawaiians that tattoo one complete side, head to toe, of their body. The tattooed side represented their, culture, and their cultures past, and the uninked side represented today's modern life. That's what inspired me to get my first tattoo, and then piercings started to catch my eye.

All of my friends have piercings somewhere on them, so I started asking around about them. What piercing they liked, why they got it and so forth. I was already obsessed with any sort of body modification, so I decided to take the next step and get a piercing. After a bit of thought I decided on a nipple piercing. At first I was a little worried about how much it would hurt, but I went for it anyway. After arguing with some family, about why I would do something so stupid as to pay someone to put a piece of metal through my body, they gave up.
So me and one of my best friends headed down to Wicked Inx. Same place I got my tattoo done. I walked in and went to the counter where Wicked Wendy was. The first thing out of her mouth was "How may hurt you?" That didn't set to well. But I paid her the money, and went to the back, and took off my shirt. At this point my heart was racing as I sat in the chair without a shirt on, watching her get the needle, and hoop ready. My friend was there too mocking me saying, "Here comes the pain!" So I tried to ignore him. But there was a problem. She said my nipples were too small, so she would have to pierce through the areola. I wanted it done so I agreed. She stuck the clamp on, and with a deep breath, she drove the needle through. When she got the tip of the needle in it hurt, but not even for a second, and then it just felt...amazing. I loved it, if I would've had the money I would've got the other one done right there. I started to smile. I finally did it and I was loving it. When I looked at in the mirror, the hoop was sticking straight out, and looked like half the hoop was in my nipple. But she said that it was normal, and it would drop as it heeled.
Well for the next year I cleaned it, and waited for it to drop. I know it still didn't heal because it still was bleeding every once and awhile, but I was stubborn and made myself believe, that it would heal. Finally I went to a tattoo studio downtown on my way home, to see if my guess was right. Unfortunately what I thought was right. The ring was still sticking straight up, and half the hoop was inside my nipple. The piercer said that it was actually "dangerously too deep" and it looked a little bit infected. So in the end I went home and took it out.
Now I'm waiting for my nipple to heal so I can go get it re-done. But this time it'll be done right. Everyone who comes up to me and asks, what's a good thing to get pierced, I always say nipples. They can by covered, they feel good when they're someone plays with them. It sends chills up and down your spine when they're played with. But once you get one, you'll be addicted, and want more. I also get asked..."If you had so much trouble and pain with it the first time, why get it done again?" Easy. I had it in for so long it feels weird with out it. I miss it. I loved having it pierced, and it feels weird that it's not. So now, I have to get it re-done. I know for a fact I'll get way more piericings, but I need my nipples done first.
