My current girl friend had no knowledge of piercings when she met me and was pretty surprised about what she found the first time we had sex, in fact she was very anxious about the whole thing. However she soon came round to the idea and then became a positive enthusiast, to the extent of wanting to get a Vertical Hood Piercing. I had had my PA done by Helen at Sensual Steel in Tattoo City, Leicester UK, so we went back there on a trip to the UK and she got her first body piercing.
A little later she followed that with two neat ear cartilage piercings which look really good with diamonds in them (!) but I was very pleased when she told me that she wanted to get her nipples pierced. I had been lurking in the de.rec.bodyart group so I posted a question and received a reply that there was a highly rated piercing studio called Deep Metal in Dortmund. We checked out their web-site (www.deepmetal.de) and it said all the right things about healthcare and service. My girlfriend had to travel back to the UK for a week, so she asked me to go and check out the studio.
I went there last Friday after work and was immediately impressed by the set up. I then started to consider getting my nipples pierced. I asked Andrea the piercer to have a close look at my anatomy because I was anxious that my nipples were too small to be pierced. She told me that she would pierce behind the nipple so that I was suitable and that the piercing would make my nipples larger any case. The price was 120€ (about 120$ or £80) including 1.6mm titanium D-rings, which seemed a little expensive, but I asked Andrea, the piercer, to set up whilst I went to the nearest Autogeld (ATM).
I bought a can of Coke on the way back to drink afterwards and when I returned she read me through a questionnaire and disclaimer form, which only the Germans could have invented! I signed up and we went into the piercing room.
She had all the autoclaved supplies laid out in packages on a tray. I stripped to the waist and she sprayed cleansing fluid on my nipples before shaving off the few hairs around them with a disposable razor. After another quick clean up she sprayed on the Xylocaine. Then while waiting for the anaesthetic to take effect she changed gloves washed and marked me up.
At that point I noticed that there were no clamps on the tray. She explained that she did all her piercings free hand. The cleansing fluid and Xylocaine had made my nipple slippery so she had to wipe it dry before holding it and piercing it.
The pain was very intense as the needle entered my flesh and then emerged again from the other side. It hurt much more than my PA which was just a small sharp pain. She pulled the ring back though the piercing and clipped the ball in. First one done but I was a little anxious as I had read that the second piercing is often worse. Luckily it wasn't. But it did hurt just as much. She clipped the ball in and I was finished. Not a drop of blood anywhere.
I looked in the mirror and couldn't believe I had done it. I got dressed, paid Andrea, drank my Coke and drove home.
My nipples were pretty sore in the evening so I took a couple of Paracetamol and then I had a large whisky before bed. I slept in an old T-shirt expecting at least a little blood, but no problems over night and in the morning I showered and washed them with Provon. I put some plaster over them when I went out for a 20 minute run later on.
The pain was gone within 24 hours and two days after piercing I hardly know they're there. I'm planning on a routine of gleaning them in the mornings with Provon and in the evenings treating them with Savlon wound wash.
I can't wait to see my girlfriends face when she gets back from her trip. She wanted to get pierced nipples; she just didn't realise that it wouldn't be her nipples that got pierced!
