I had decided that I wanted to get my nipples pierced for a while now. I've actually attempted to go several times but things always came up, and there was a lot of unnecessary drama most of the time. Anyway, I finally went this past weekend [Saturday, March 8] to get them done.

Anyway, my friend and I (she was getting her septum pierced by the way) made our way up Eighth Street to St. Marks. We get there, and Mikel was not there. I actually contemplated turning around and coming back some other time, but the fact that I have waited soooo long and we already made the trip out there made me just give this guy John a chance.
I've been pierced at Andromeda several times before and trust their abilities (actually, I trust Mikel's abilities). Anyway, like I said, I gave John a chance and told him that I wanted to get both of my nipples pierced. I had told the person who was selecting the jewelry that I wanted to get them pierced at a twelve gauge. He said no problem; it'll be an extra ten bucks. So anyway, my friend and I paid for the piercing we were going to get and headed on in to the 'piercing room' (or panic room as one of my friends calls it). Anyway, I waited on the side while my friend got pierced first. Bam Bam Bam – She was done.
It was now my turn. So I took off my shirt, took a seat, and waited while John prepared and did what he had to do. I had told him that I wanted the piercings a little deeper than usual because I plan on stretching them. He said that wasn't a problem. So he startled to prep the area, marked the exits holes and told me to check them out to see if they were straight to me. I stood up to get the best possible 'view' of what they were look like most of the time, and to me they looked straight. I turned around and asked my friend what she thought and she was like 'yeah they straight.'
So I sat back down and then John prepped my left nipple one more time, clamped it with the forceps, told me to take a deep breathe in, and ::swoosh:: the needle was through. Now, I have always heard that nipples are one of the painful piercings you can get. I was told to expect a pain that was like getting shot with a B-B gun only ten times worse. Well, I don't know if I just have very high pain tolerance, or if I'm used to a little nipple torture (wink wink), but it did not hurt as much as I hoped they would. I mean, expected. :P I mean, it felt like a needle going through my nipple. And there was a type of pain – but it wasn't pain. I didn't even finch. In fact, my septum piercing hurt A LOT more than my nipples (although, again, the pain was not really pain but... I'm sure you know what I'm talking about).
So anyway, he slid the jewelry in and proceeded onto the next nipple. Bam Bam Bam – Same procedure... Same sensation... And the jewelry was in. He then tightened the captive ball rings and inserted the little ball.
One thing that I noticed is that I did not bleed at all – no sign of a fresh piercing was evident. And even now, five days later, I have yet to secrete anything from my nipples. No crusties no nothing. I hope that's normal. Somebody I talk to says that it took almost a week for his nipple piercings to crust up. Anyway, I have no pain associated with the nipples, and even that infamous "I just got pierced" soreness is none existent. The only thing different is that my nipples are a lot more sensitive to the touch.
So far, I have consistently been wearing those wife beaters, which I find helps a great deal. It keeps the piercings down and I think that is one of the reasons they are feeling so nice is because I'm not snagging them on anything. Further, it helps a lot when I sleep because the W.B. basically press them on my body and the rings are not being folded in every weird possible position when I turn and toss.
As far as healing them, I've only been cleaning them once a day when I take a shower at night. Like I said earlier they have yet to crust up so I have yet to need to clean the crusts off in the morning. The first two days I cleaned them with Dial and now I'm just cleaning them with plain water. I think that's the best way to go. I don't know – I healed my septum and tongue web with just plain water and they healed better than any other piercing.
