Hey well this is my tale about third time lucky for all of you girls or guys out there wanting to get you nipples pierced. I just want to give everyone an idea of what can go wrong and that there is still hope if something does.

About two years ago a couple of mates and me went into town and got inspired to get something pierced, not my first piercing by any means but that is a different story. Beck and Amalie, my friends both wanted to go to Tattoo Nation, not being my normal studio I was a bit reluctant but went along anyway. We walked in and everything looked clean and sterile, the piercer was really nice as well even though I noticed he didn't explain everything as well as he could have. Beck decided to get her nose done and went first, and then Amalie got her belly done. They both have other piercings so it was hassle free. I had had a bit of a look around at some of the posters on the walls and there was one with a girl's nipple pierced and I must tell you it looked so great I just couldn't resist.

My friends freaked at the idea but I didn't let that bother me. I sat down on the table while the piercer got his things ready. I must say looking at the needle etc my heart was being to race especially as my friends were like that is the most painful piercing u can get oh my god etc. Thanks guys. Next he put a little dot on each side of the nipple, asking me what I thought I thought it was perfect but have since found out that it wasn't far enough back. Then he clamped it, which was a bit uncomfortable but not too bad. As he picked up the needle and positioned it I grabbed a hold of Amalie's hand and squeezed like anything. It was like a burning sensation the needle going through but it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. Looking down and into the mirror I must admit it looked pretty awesome this needle sticking through my poor little nipple. Next came the tubing then the ring I had picked. I find wiggling my toes through any piercing helps so much it actually isn't as easy as it sounds to do when getting pierced.

Now I had a beautiful little nipple ring. We paid and left all proud of our new body mods, but that was just the start. For the next month it never stopped hurting completely and I noticed it seemed to be being rejected. One day I got on the bus from school and felt this incredible burning sensation in my nipple. 'That was it'. I decided something was wrong as I got off in town I went straight to the piercing studio. By the time I got there it was about half an hour to an hour after the pain had started. Another piercer was there so I told her what was wrong and she took me into one of the piercing rooms to have a look. As I took my top off I noticed that about a 2 mm or so of the ring had come out the top of my nipple. It hadn't been like that that morning. It was being rejected and fast. The piercer was a bit surprised and said that she needed to take it out but she would do the other one for me for free. It turned out that that other piercer hadn't pierced deep enough.

I though about getting the other one done and decided why not cause I had grown to love my little nipple piercing despite all the problems. So as she sterilized everything, I went and choose another ring, another mistake. As I sat back down on the table I realised that I didn't have anyone's hand to hold. My adrenalin starting pumping and I was glad to be doing this piercing on my own. There has always been someone else there so I wanted to make this more of a personal experience. I calmed myself down so much I hardly even noticed her put the two little dots until she asked what I thought. I noticed that they were a lot further back than what the last ones had been. Next came the clamp then the piercing. It didn't hurt anymore than the first one but it was an intense experience because I was focusing on it so much more. I looked down at my new ring and loved it. After going though the aftercare with me I left hopeful that this one would be okay.

It wasn't meant to be within the same time frame the same thing happened except worse. I went back to the studio dreading what they were going to say. Yep it had to come out. When I asked what had happened they said my body just rejected it and if I wanted them pierced again I would have to use 18 caret gold. So that was that I left with out my little adornment. I don't know what really happened because at that stage I had about 4 other piercings and they had never ever even been infected. I'm not suggesting this is a bad studio because a lot of people I know have had good experiences there. I just had the bad luck to have a bad one.

For anyone who is reading this and wondering I have since had one done again at my usual studio 'FNQ Tattoo' and they were incredible like usual. It hurt a lot more because there is a bit of scar tissue. Don't worry my nipples aren't deformed from the botched piercings but there is scar tissue. I also had it done with a barbell the third time and the worked really well for me. I didn't need the 18 caret gold which was good cause that was going to be expensive. I have had it in six months with out any hassles. I am thinking about getting the other one done again but need to get my nerve up because it does HURT with scar tissue.

I hope this has helped anyone in a similar position email me if you are curious about anything or want to share your story with me.

Happy piercings make it a journey not just an experience.
