First of all, let me start off by saying, I love body modifications. Piercings, tattoos whatever it is I enjoy looking at them as an art form and I can appreciate using the human body as a canvas, if you will, for art. Anyway, you are reading this to do some research on nipple piercing, or perhaps just for your own personal enjoyment. Whatever the case may be, I hope that my experience enlightens you in some way.
I had been thinking about getting my nipples pierced for some time. I got my first piercing, my tongue, when I was sixteen. I have since gotten my eyebrow pierced twice and my lip as well. So I was thinking that I needed to go for something a little lower on my body. I had a collection of piercings that are easily viewed by everyone, now I wanted to start a more personal collection. So I could not think of a better way to start this personal collection than with my nipples. It was kind of funny how this actually came about, one of my friends that lives about an hour from here said that she was going to come down and visit for a weekend and that while she was down here she wanted to get her nipple pierced and that when she went she wanted someone to come with her for some support. So I agreed, and decided that I would get mine done at the same time. I mean we were both there for the same thing and we could lend one another a comforting hand.
I started doing research on BME as I always do, reading experiences, good and bad, looking at pictures so that I could know as much as I possibly could before actually going through with the procedure. I highly recommend doing this, it really is for your own personal benefit. As I was reading the experiences and looking at these pictures, I could not decide whether I wanted a vertical nipple piercing, or a horizontal nipple piercing. I pondered and pondered and I finally decided on the horizontal.
The weekend finally arrived that my friend was visiting after weeks of excitement building inside me. I met her at one of my other friends' dorm, and there ended up being 6 people going with us. I do not recommend this, especially if they are like my friends, flighty and indecisive, it just makes things worse. I stopped at the ATM and headed across the street to Art Apocalypse. I got in there and filled out all of the necessary papers and such. The guy that was working at the counter asked to see my ID, and about that time Tom came out and said that he knew me so that was not necessary that I had been there before.(hehehe I'm a regular) Tom escorted my friends and I back to the piercing room. I had already told my friend that I would go first so that she could she what it was going to be like. I sat down in the dentists chair chatting away with my friends as Tom was sterilizing everything. Once he was done with that, he changed his gloves again and asked me to stand up with my hands at my sides so that he could mark me. He marked me and asked me to take a look in the mirror to see if I liked the placement and I did, so I proceeded to the next step. Tom had me sit back down in the chair and he explained to me what gauge ring he was using and why he chose that size and such. Then he clamped my nipple. Now I know that a lot of people say that this was the worst part of the whole experience, but I had no problem with it. I mean it was not the most wonderful sensation ever, but I was not in any kind of pain. So he got the clamps all lined up where they needed to be and he told me to relax and take a deep breath and then exhale. I did and the needle was through. I felt no pain whatsoever. I even watched the needle go through. He put the ring in and I had one down and one more to go. I was amazed at how there was no pain at all, not even a pinch. So now it was time for the second one. Again, he clamped my nipple and it was still t he same uncomfortable feeling as before. Tom told me to relax and tak e a deep breath and exhale. This time when the needle was going through I could definitely feel it. It was not an excruciating pain, but there was a definite sting and I think that I made a little noise on the second one. I did not feel him putting the ring in, but the initial piercing did sting. And I could not believe that I was done. Tom gave me instructions on aftercare and I was a very satisfied customer. They did start bleeding some. It was more than just a little drop, but that subsided after about 15 or 20 minutes. I told Tom that I had started bleeding, and he told me that since I had bled a little bit, that there was a possibility that I might bruise, but it has been almost a week since I had them done, and there was not any bruising at all. I have had no problems of any kind with them and I love them so much. And I am actually trying to get an apprenticeship with Tom but he is training someone else right now, so if anyone in the Athens area is looking for a n apprentice to take under their wing, keep me in mind ;-)
My advice for anyone who is thinking about getting them done, GO FOR IT!! It is well worth it. Just remember a few things first: 1.Do your research-find out all you can about the piercing. 2. Check out several places before you go. 3. EAT BEFORE YOU GO GET PIERCED- my friend that went after me had not eaten and she ended up almost passing out about 10 or 15 minutes later.
I hope that all of my information has helped you in one way or another. If you have any questions or comments just e-mail them to me, and I will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have.
