When this experience took place, I was still somewhat of a piercing virgin. Having only my standard navel and a vertical hood, I was beginning to feel the itch. You know the one – where the only thing that you can think about is when and where you'll get more work done. My then boyfriend had just gotten both his nipples pierced horizontally with 14 ga CBRs, and while I was not allowed to play with them for a while yet, just knowing they were there excited me. I hadn't thought of having my own done until he suggested it one night and after that I couldn't get the thought out of my mind. I went so far as to place an old CBR on one of my nipples to see how it looked. I was in love. I knew that I needed my own pair, and soon!

Since he was paying for them, I consented. It was a spontaneous sort of night, and we were just driving by, and after reading countless BME experiences, and looking at hundreds of pictures and asking everyone I knew with nipple rings about their experience, I felt ready to do it. I yelled "stop the car!" and we pulled over, parked, and went inside. Kreative Khaos is a comfortable, clean studio with friendly staff. I inquired about getting the initial piercings done with straight barbells, but the piercer said that they did not pierce with anything but CBRs for nipples. She gave reasons, but I can't remember now. In hindsight, I should have waited, and asked my regular piercer whether I could have them done with barbells, but being new to the mod world, and wanting them done so badly, I didn't think twice before agreeing to the CBRs, even though they weren't really what I w anted. I figured that I could always switch them out after they healed.
I was nervous as can be, sitting in the waiting room waiting for Leanne to autoclave the rings, and my ex was assuring me that it did not hurt as badly as I was anticipating. We went into the back room, and I sat down and took off my shirt. Leanne had me stand up very straight with my arms by my sides so that she could mark the placement. She used a sterile toothpick with purple marking ink to make the dots. I can't remember now how many times she changed her gloves, although if I had known more, I would have paid more attention. I approved the placement, and laid back with a knot in my stomach the size of Texas. I gripped the chair with sweaty palms and readied myself for the needle. On three I took a deep breath in and let out a little yelp of pain as the needle was pushed through. She then inserted the ring, and moved on to the next one. This one hurt a fair bit more, and my ex giggled at the string of swear words that I let out. When both were done, she put the balls on the rings, and on went the shirt. It was at that point that I realized that I had worn an exercise shirt with no bra, and that it was –20 degrees outside. Bad timing. We paid, and she went over aftercare with me. The second I stepped out the door, my nipples got hard from the cold and I was cursing my spontaneity, but I was happy nonetheless.
When we got back to his house, we told his mom what we'd been up to and she gave me tylenol and told me I was brave. I went downstairs, and couldn't help but run to the mirror to admire my new decorations. They are perfectly straight, and both my ex and I were in love with the look of them.
The first few weeks of healing went rather smoothly...I wore a bra at all times because I found it more comfortable and the rings stayed in place instead of getting flipped up all the time. I cleaned once a day at the end of my shower with Phisoderm. When my nipples started to get irritated, I went to my regular piercer to see what the problem was. The rings that I was pierced with were too small a diameter, and were putting a lot of pressure on the piercings. I asked about barbells again, and Sarah said that I could go to fitted straight barbells, or larger diameter rings. I chose the barbells. Almost immediately, I felt a change. My nipples stopped hurting within a week, and began to heal more quickly, as there were no rings to get knocked around. Even now, more than a year later, I find that when I put CBRs in, its like my nipples seem to "unheal". Mind you, I know lots of people who prefer rings. Personal preference I suppose.
Words of Caution: 1. Make sure you know your piercer and feel comfortable in the studio.
2. Research everything you can about the piercing.
3. Double-check the cleanliness and safety precautions taken by the studio.
4. Make sure that your jewelry is of proper size.
5. Most importantly, PIERCE YOUR NIPPLES! Because even a year later I still love mine, and would recommend it to anyone thinking of it.Happy piercing to all...cheers!
