Ever since I was younger I admired the standard nipple piercing. Finally at the age of 18 I got up enough nerve to go in to the tattoo/piercing place down the road, alone, to finally have my expectations fullfilled after so many years of putting it off.

I have no idea why, it's just the way that it is with me I guess. I hoped that because of my lack of sensation that this would rid me of some of the pain of getting it pierced and possibly make my nipple a little more sensitive to sexual stimulation.
First of all I'd like to mention the fact that my family hated my liking towards piercings. I have absolutely no tattoos, but I simply adore piercings. When I moved out on my own I decided that there were no bars on my nipple not being pierced so I did it and I absolutely love it!
A friend of mine had her nipples pierced for about a year now and I can't say that I've envied her, but I wanted one of mine done. The reason being is the fact that both my nipples are different, one is inversed, the other isn't. Not only that but my breasts are only a small C cup and I thought that getting them pierced would aid in giving them a little bit of character.
A woman that I work with whom is age twenty one told me that she had had her own nipple pierced for over two years. I asked her why she had hers done and she told me that because she too had small breasts that she thought they needed "some character" which is one of the reasons I wanted mine done. She was one of the people that convinced me to go through with the whole ordeal.
After work one day I left while telling my boyfriend that I was off to get my nipple pierced, him knowing full well that if I said I was going to do it, I was going to do it. I went to Red Lion and began rolling off streams of questions to the woman at the desk (the piercer's wife) and she answered them all very patiently.
The decision on what nipple to get pierced was not too hard, I asked the wife of the man who pierced it which would be easier to maintain and she simply said "The one that isn't inversed, for sure.". Seeing as though she had one of her own nipples pierced beforehand, I felt a lot more comfortable with her advice and went with it.
Both parties of the shop couple (the piercer and his wife) were in the room and they advised me to remove my shirt and bra. I did so, feeling as at ease as ever and sat in the chair. Not even the over foot long mustache of the man that was doing the procedure undaunted me. I have a habit of wanting to place my hands near the place wherever I'm getting pierced and the man held my nipple in the clamp with the needle lined up just right after marking two little ominous blue dots as a guide and he said "Move your hands, I work alone.". No sooner did I move my hand, I looked toward the ceiling and I felt the needle go through my precious little pink nipple.
A score of obsenities flowed out of my mouth, only from the shock of what happened. I looked down and saw the steel needle hanging there in my flesh as he strung the ring through. It wasn't even close to as bad as I anticipated it to be. If you have your eyebrow pierced, it's about similar as far as pain goes, which is minimal.
So here I am, about a week later and my nipple is doing great. It really was something to go through with, and the best part is my nipple that was very insensitive to both pain and pleasure is now very easy to be sexually stimulated.
A truly wonderful, and gratifying experience indeed. I would recommend anyone, male or female to get their nipple pierced as long as they know that their body can handle the surgical steel jewellery that is most commonly used. I also want to enforce the fact that it is not a decision of anyone but YOURSELF in getting your nipple (or anything) pierced; it is a very personal decision. As long as you can live with the fact that for a while there is a lot of attention that should be put into your piercing at first, later on it will be healed.
As far as the rumor that women who plan on having children and then breastfeeding them can not do it if they get their nipple(s) pierced as the piercing with damage the milk ducts is not always true. I am one of not many unfortunate teenagers that lactates while menstruating and seeing as though I got my piercing done while it was during that time of month, I decided to check to see if my milky faucets still functioned. EUREKA! They still work so there is hope for me to breastfeed later on in life.
