Last month, after toying with the idea for ages I decided to get my right nipple pierced. Let me start by saying that I'm 48 years old and up until now my only piercings have been 2 earrings. I also have a tattoo which was done last year that I'm very pleased with. It's a sun and moon tattoo on my right arm which I got with my girlfriend. She got a matching one on her backside and it's a real turn on. So back to my nipple piercing. My girlfriend loves to tease and bite my nipples and just based on our position on the bed (She sleeps on the left of me) she tends to pay more attention to my left nipple. After many episodes of nipple play, it turned out that my left one was more sensitive and larger than my right. This kind of made my decision to pierce the right one. It was smaller and less sensitive and I've heard that piercing enlarges and sensitizes a nipple.

For whatever reason, I wasn't at all nervous. Joe discussed the procedure as he prepared me and put on 5 sets of rubber gloves. I was cleaned and the marks made on my nipple. My girlfriend held my hand as Joe proceeded to clamp my nipple. So far so good. She bites my nipple much harder than that clamp, I thought. Then out came the needle and he asked me to take and hold a deep breath. He repeated this a second time, and on the third breath he slid the needle home. It was over before I knew it. I just said "WOW" . I had decided on a horseshoe barbell in stainless steel and he had it installed in no time. When the ring was inserted I proceeded to laugh for a while. I don't know exactly why but I must have been relieved. Although it did hurt it was over so quickly. He asked if I wanted to continue laying there and I said "yeah OK". Afterwards my girlfriend turned around to me and asked if I was staying there because I was aroused. That gave us both a bit of a laugh. We proceeded to go out for a drink or two and returned home with her being frustrated that she couldn't lick or touch it until it healed completely. That's the reason I only had one nipple done, to give her access to the other. I'm hoping that she will be able to touch it soon because we are both getting anxious. I must say that I did experience a feeling of euphoria that lasted most of the day as Joe had advised me. Most everything felt and looked brighter to me.
Now that a month has passed, the nipple does feel a bit more sensitive and enlarged (almost immediately). It felt a little burning sensation this past weekend and I think that was due to some twisting I did to the ring after putting saline solution on it. I don't think it should be moved at all unless you first soap it up with antibacterial soap (even if you are going to put saline solution on it). The site has really turned me on to body piercing and I have to admit that I am now excited about the prospect of changing my jewelry to something a bit more exotic once it heals completely. I'm leaning toward one of those horseshoe shaped ones with the pointed ends in gold to match my earrings. I also want to stretch the piercing to a 10 gauge so I don't want to invest too much in new jewelry if I'm going to be changing it. I called the piercing studio regarding stretching the piercing and I was told that once it heals, I can change from a 14 gauge to a 12 gauge. My only re gret is that I didn't start with a larger gauge to begin with (maybe a 12 gauge). From what I have read here, a 12 gauge is a fairly good starting point and my nipples aren't small. I probably could have begun from that point. I guess I fall into the category of somewhat impatient when it comes to body modification. I'd like to have it completely healed and a larger gauge sooner. I hope I don't have to wait too long. My next project is to add another tattoo. This will be my second one. I want to add a Celtic armband under the sun and moon I have. I've seen several and I'm looking for one that has both a Celtic motif and either a snake or dragon at either end. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
I've got to thank a few of your writers for their support via email prior to my piercing. I was going to do it anyway, but the encouragement helped. So if you're considering doing it, don't wait. Just seek out a clean and reputable shop and go for it.
