Ever since I was little I was never very satisfied with the way my body looked. When I turned 16 and had the freedom to get my body pierced I began using it as a way to fulfill my own self image. I wanted to prove to the people who made fun of me because I was different that I was in fact different and it was what made me special.

Before getting any of my previous piercings, I had done lots of research, and I had found out different healing methods, chances of rejection and such. Then all of a sudden, I skipped school one day, and went to get my nipple pierced. My friend Sara and I went together because you get a better deal on two than you do on one. So we both got our money out of the bank machine, and headed to the studio.

When I first got there I was very nervous, but I didn't let it stop me. Mike sterilized and prepped everything in the room, and then Sara and I went in. I went first because I knew that if I saw Sara get it done and it seemed painful that I would chicken out. So I took my shirt off and stood in front of Mike while he marked out where he was going to pierce it. Then I laid down on the table.

He clamped my nipple and told me to take a breath in and then out, that's when he pierced it. The only problem was that it hurt so much that I arched my back, and he had to stop half-way through piercing it, and then finish. Needless to say my nipple hurt very badly for the next few days.

I cleaned it four times a day with Bactine (in spray bottle form) and used q-tips to make sure that the entire area was clean. Cleaning them seemed to hurt a little, which worried me because it hadn't with any of my other piercings, but I assured myself that I had nothing to worry about.

That's when the problems started. Because I had moved when he was piercing it, it hadn't gone exactly through where he had marked it, so the balls were sinking into my skin. This worried me, so I went to Mike and he put in a longer barbell. I continued to clean the piercing regularly with bactine and q-tips, as well as in the shower. Then a few days later, even with the longer barbell the balls were still sinking into my skin. I no longer liked the look of the piercing, so I got frustrated and took it out. Which probably wasn't the most brilliant idea; I should have consulted someone who knew what they were doing, before taking out a piercing that could possibly have been infected. Lucky for me, things turned out fine, and it healed incredibly fast.

It wasn't until six months later that I decided to get it re-pierced. This time I decided to research the piercing, learn as much as I could, and then go and get it pierced. I waited about two weeks, then went in and talked to Mike. I had decided that I wanted to get both my nipples pierced this time, so I told him my plan and then he went in and sterilized the room. I went in after and he marked both my nipples so they would be even, then I laid down on the table. This time I was nervous, but not as nervous as the last time. I was prepared for the pain that was going to come, because I had experienced it before, and knew what it was like. He was going to do the nipple that had never been pierced first. I closed my eyes, and he told me to take a deep breath in, and then out. This time I didn't move at all and the piercing was fairly painless. Then he clamped the other nipple and pierced it. It hurt just as much as it had the first time, but I didn't move at all while he d id it.

Afterwards my nipples barely hurt at all. I had minor pain for a few days afterwards whenever I banged them on anything, but that was really all.

Now a month later, I am enjoying my piercings to the full extent. I don't regret getting them at all.

For aftercare I didn't use Bactine or anything else from the store, I clean them in the shower with q-tips every morning and every night. Recently I removed the barbells and sterilized them, then put them back in. It hurt a little but didn't bother me much at all.

All in all I am very satisfied with this piercing and would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about getting it done.
