Everything started my senior year of high school. I come from a southern baptist home and piercings are not something that my family is familiar with or accustomed too. It started off when I asked my mother is I could have my navel pierced. Take note that up until now I only had one hole in each ear. My mother wasn't really up for the idea, but she said that I was 18 and I could make the decision on my own. I'm lucky that my parents are very understanding and open people. So me and my best friend took off for the piercing studio, got our navels pierced and came home. As it turns out my mom loved it and I loved it.

Now I had come across BME some months before I got my navel done and continued reading after I got pierced. I began to take notice in nipple rings. I asked my boyfriend about the idea and he wasnt really interested in me getting one. So I put the idea on hold. However, I then went to college. Go Mississippi State! He wasnt around anymore and I began looking more and more at the nipple piercings. I decided I really wanted one. So read story after story. I was really concerned with the pain factor, being that I am the hugest baby. I finally decided to do it, without telling my parents. So I went to the parlor and told them what I wanted. Now here's where some of my bad judgment comes in. It was really the cleanest place and it was dimly lit. I probably should have waited until I went back home to Pensacola and gotten it done there. But I got it done. She had me sit up during the procedure. She clamped it and pushed the needle through. Before she pierced me I a sked her some questions about how long she had been a piercer and how many nipple piercings she'd done. It hurt like all get out, but I survived. In fact I blacked out for a moment when it happened. I had to lay down for about ten minutes before I could get up again. I got pierced with a 14ga cbr. Afterwards she told me I could clean it with dial soap. I wasnt so sure, because I'd been other places where they suggested not using dial because it is too harsh. I stuck with that and used Provon instead and the sea salt soaks. I've heard many different aftercare regimes, so I decided to research for myself. I suggest looking at the APP's (Assciation of Professional Piercers) website. It can answer many questions you might have, because, unfortunately, not all piercers know what they are doing. I was disappointed a few days later when I finally got a good look at it and noticed that it was crooked. However I really like it and decided to keep it. It bled A LOT the first day, but as of now its doing great. I called the piercing studio and t hey said that the ring had probably come close to a blood vessel when it was pierced. The I probably moved it a little the next day and broke the blood vessel open.

Afterwards I didnt really have any problems with soreness or swelling. In fact a couple of days later I even went and played in a volleyball tournament. I did discover that wear bras was very comfortable. It keep the piercing from rubbing or getting caught on things and held it in place.

Now the hard part was telling my mom. I try to be pretty honest and open with her. I told her and she did just as I expected. She freaked out. I had to keep calming her down and telling her not to worry. She finally listened to me. I think she was worried about what people would think of me.

You know what though? Piercings are all about expressing yourself. I've learned that through all this. Dont ever get a piercing for someone else. Only get pierced because its was you want. Also dont let anyone stop you from getting a piercing because they are afraid of what people might think of you. All my friends are now like, "wow you're wild!" No. I'm not wild, I'm not a goody-goody. I'm just me. Getting my piercing was a part of being me. I love having this secret piercing. I'm such a good girl and everyone was surprised when I got my navel done. Just wait till they hear about this one! Its amazing.

I really like piercings, but I'm not sure if I'll get any more. I'm still debating. I kinda promised my mom I wouldnt get another one, but we'll see about that. So if you are thinking about getting a nipple piercing.......oh hell! go for it!
