My failed nipple procedure

This is the first time writing for BME so i will accept any boos directed at this experience.

I am a twenty-five year old male who is interested in body piercings ever since I saw a woman on TV with her nose, eyebrows, lips, navel and bridge pierced.

I had wanted my nipples pierced for quite sometime. I couldn't pierce my navel as I wear short shirts(not tank tops). Having facial piercings would only encourage my parents to think I was mad. They all do not like piercings nor tattoos. Also, I didn't want a genital piercing nor a tattoo I felt they would be too painful. So I was left with the option to pierce my nipple. The only disadvantage I would suffer was that I could not swim for fear of attracting attention.

So I decided to pierce my nipple. Only problem was that every time I was prepared to pierce them, I chickened out.

Finally, I told myself last month shit just do it. I was using a safety pin to pierce and keep it in there as jewelry. So I boiled the safety pin in a kettle and brought a cube of ice to my room and numbed my nipple.

After numbing, I used a permanent marker to mark the entry and exit holes on my left nipple. I lined the pin up on a straight line to my nipple, took a deep breath and pushed with all my strength. I won't deny that is didn't hurt. I had never felt something that painful in all my life. When I looked down the pin had only penetrated half of my nipple. I looked through teary eyes, gritted my teeth and started pushing again. It took half an hour to finally push the sharp part of the pin out through the exit point. The worst part of the procedure was push the pin out of the exit hole. It stung and really hurt!

So it took me another fifteen minutes to fully push the pin out through the exit point. I relaxed for a while and used a scissors to cut off the pointed part of the pin and the part connecting the pin to the safety part. I sighed with relief and flopped onto the bed, deciding that my right nipple could wait.

When I woke up an hour later, the first thing I noticed was that my nipple was sore like hell. The next thing I noticed was that both the entry and exit holes looked swollen. I nudged the pin and it started bleeding. Lucky my parents weren't home. So I decided to wash the piercing with salt water.

Half an hour later, my nipple still looked sore so I took a bath, cleaned my nipple with anti-bacterial soap and washed fresh water into the piercing by letting water pool into my hand and then sliding the pin out a bit to draw in water.

The next day, I had to go to school but I couldn't take the pin out so I went to school with pieces of cork capping the open ends of the pin(I impaled the cork onto the pin). When I got home, I could feel pounding in my nipple. When I took off my shirt, I saw that the nipple had expanded and looked very sore and swollen.

I had no choice so I took out the piercing with a heavy heart as I could not bring the swelling down no matter what I did(I tried to use ice, spoonfuls of honey, water etc). A couple of days later, I noticed that a small yellow pocket had formed next to my nipple. Being naturally curious, I pressed down on it. Yellow pus started to ooze out and I knew that the piercing was infected.

As I was quite scared, I cleaned the pus off with a piece of tissue paper and let it rest. The next day, my nipple started looking like normal. Now the only thing that makes me think of the experience is a small scar on the right side of my nipple, where I had marked the entry hole.

Despite this set back, I am now attempting to pierce by navel and lips. Hope fully I would not be as lucky as when I pierced my nipple.

Also, I learned that boiling the safety pin was not a good idea for killing germs and prevent infection and that rings, barbells would be the correct jewelery. Next time, I'll visit a piercing studio to pierce my nipples again.

Doing and piercing yourself is a very bad idea. I was lucky the infection didn't spread and cause my nipple to swell. Anyone who wants body piercing should visit a piercing studio. Never, never pierce yourself unless you are experienced in that.

Write some other time, gotta run. Bye!
