I have always been an avid fan of body piercing in all its forms. The problem for me was the profession I have chosen for a career. Body piercings are strictly forbidden. I had a real dilemma.
At A Glance Author anonymous When Two years ago Artist Sara Studio High Priestess Location Eugene, OR What added to my misery was the fact my wife wanted to get some body piercings but only if I had "something" pierced to. I finally decided that the only thing I could conceal practically was a nipple piercing. My wife agreed and we started researching body piercing shops.
The only piercing shop that seemed to have a very positive track record was over an hour away. I spoke with several of the piercers over the phone and their friendliness and knowledge convinced me that they were the one to go to.
We made it a day trip and made sure we ate a good meal before entering the shop. We signed the necessary forms and told them what we wanted (nipple for me, nipples and naval for my wife). I volunteered to go first.
I had read a lot about the procedure so I had a good idea of what to expect. I told Sara (the piercer) that I wanted to have the right nipple pierced. Maybe later I would have the left nipple done also.
Sara told me that was fine but I needed to realize that getting one nipple pierced now and one later could lead to symmetry problems. She explained that when a nipple is pierced there is sometimes movement as the piercing heals. If the piercings are done at different times it is often harder to get them to be consistent. My wife nudged me and whispered, "both." The next thing I knew both my nipples were being marked with black ink dots for their new piercings.
I lay on my back on the table after removing my shirt. Sara explained what she would be doing and I watched as she removed brand new needles from their packages. She then clamped my left nipple with a sterilized stainless steel clamp. The clamp was not comfortable but there was no real pain. She explained to me how she wanted me to breathe as she proceeded with the actual piercing.
I started to breathe, one (deep breath, slowly out), two (deep breath). Fiery burning pain lasting only an instant in my left nipple. This was replaced quickly by a throbbing, burning pain. I had to remind myself to breathe.
Sara asked if I was doing okay and I just nodded. Sara asked again and I managed to reply I was doing all right. She efficiently slipped the gold ring I had selected through my left nipple while withdrawing the piercing needle.
I was breathing easier as she placed another clamp on my right nipple. I hardly felt the discomfort this time. I am sure my endorphins were going crazy. Sara asked if I was ready and I nodded. She smiled and asked me to start counting again.
I took a deep breath and started, "one". Another jolt of pain sliding through my right nipple quickly replaced by the burning, throbbing. This time the actual piercing wasn't as bad. Another gold ring followed the piercing needle through the hole.
I watched as Sara carefully fitted the gold balls into the rings and carefully squeezed them closed. She asked if I was feeling okay and I told her that I thought so. I then slowly sat up and I realized I felt okay. I stood up off the table and took a seat next to the table as my wife reluctantly took my place on the table (she later told me she was having second thoughts as the pain I experienced had been pretty obvious based on my facial expression).
When she was finished we slowly made our way back to our vehicle. We both could not believe the burning pain each time out pierced nipples brushed against the material of our shirts.
The pain lasted for several hours and the discomfort went on for several weeks. It is now two years later and we would not give up our nipple rings. They are great! They have added a new "twist" to our sexual relations. Occasionally though one of my nipple rings will get caught or hit and there is some momentary pain, which quickly fades.
One really important thing about piercings I have learned. Take care of them! I was very methodical in my cleansing and care of my piercings while they were healing. It took a good six months for my nipples to heal and really a year before I could do anything to them without fear. Sea salt soaks worked great for me, as did some good liquid antibacterial soap to wash off the "crusties".
I would recommend this piercing to anyone that truly has a desire to be pierced. It can be a great turn on and it also looks good if done properly. As with any piercing, do your homework and don't rush.
Just in case you were wondering. I still have my job and I am also happily pierced. Good luck and stay pierced!
