Well, this is the story of my nipple piercing. I have actually had my nipples pierced before. Yes, two times in fact. The first time the piercer did an ok job. I was not real happy with the placement, but it was ok. It did take a while for the nipples to heal that first time. It might have something to do with the fact I could not keep my hands off them. The nipples were SO sensitive. It was a real turn-on.

I did spend the money to get circular barbells that I could remove with ease when on duty, but the insides of the nipples took a real beating. If I were to do it all over again, I would make sure I had a good taper of the right size to help gently open the piercing so that the jewelry would go back in easier.
The second time I got them pierced (over a year later), I went back to the original piercer. I think that was a mistake. He was in a hurry and said, "Oh, I think I can use the same holes as before." I think that was a bad plan. There was scar tissue there and it was much harder to get the needle through. Neither one looked very good when he was through. The left was the worst. At the time, all you are worried about is the pain – not so much on the exact placement. It hurts like hell to have the nipples done. If you go to have this procedure done, choose your piercer wisely and TAKE YOUR TIME. If possible have them do a less painful piercing (ear is a good choice) first and come back later after you have time to think about how well they did. Watch their safety procedures. Do they take their time? Do they let you take your time? Most people have their nipples done once (because of the pain and because there is not a lot of flesh to work with - on most men especially). Make t hem do it right the first time!!!! Check the placement of marks for the entry and exit holes. Are these where you want them? If not, have them changed.
As they healed, I tried not to play with them as much this time. They did heal better. As I looked at them more and more I did not like the placement of them this time... (not straight - forward to back and left to right). I thought they might look better if I gauged them up from the original 14g to a 10g. This was not very fun - nipples being the sensitive pieces of flesh they are and all. I was able to do it though, after a few weeks. This caused them to need to be re-healed. My advise here is to choose the gauge you want wisely. If you think you want them a little bigger and the nipple can take a bigger gauge, get it done at that gauge. I really like the look of my 10g circular barbells and my nipples are big enough to be able to handle the larger gauge. Do be careful though. If you go too big the nipple will not be able to handle the size and might make for healing problems. If you trust your piercer, and he/she is a professional and is experienced, you should do fine to t ake their advise.
This brings me to my third nipple piercing (no – I only have two nipples). I decided that I REALLY did not like the left nipple piercing the most. It was the most out of alignment of the two. I decided to go see Andrew @ Delicious Ink in Rockford. I had piercings done by him on other occasions (two ears piercings and an eyebrow). I liked his work. I liked the way he observed many of the disease prevention methods I have learned on my job and liked the whole atmosphere of the shop as well.
I asked Andrew to look at my current piercings and to see, in his opinion, if I could handle a third try at getting things straight. He was a little reluctant but called in his partner/boss (I'm not sure which it is) Josh for his opinion. He thought he could do it and was willing to give it a try. I told him the final size I was looking for was the 10g I had been used to. He said he could pierce them at that size.
I was ready to go, or so I thought. It was really cool how Josh took his time. He marked the spot with dots for the entry and exit holes were to go. Another thing he did that I really think was a good idea was he drew lines on the areola as guides to help him line up the needle before he pierced the nipple. He did the marking with me standing so that the piercing had the best chance of being straight. When it was time to do the piercing, he had me sit in this chair that was like a dentists chair and lean back a little (good thing he did). Understand, this was a 10g needle, I was dumb and had not had anything to eat most of the day, had not had much to drink most of the afternoon and it was warm outside. I was determined I was not going to move a muscle when he finally did the piercing. I really wanted it straight this time. He pierced the nipple. It felt like he was ripping it off, it hurt so much!!! Oh, my God! I sat there for a few minutes. I got hotter and hotter. I final ly said, "I think I am going to faint." Sure enough, everything went dark and I started to dream really fast. Next thing I knew, Josh was yelling, "JIM!" I woke right up. I still felt really out of it. He sat there and talked to me, got me water and a little bit of hard candy as well. I decided there was no way I was going to get the other nipple done today. After 10 or so min., I felt ok to get up and sit in the waiting room and rest. Josh went on with his other customers at that point. They had been waiting for some time. Periodically he checked to make sure I was ok. After about 20 min., I got up and went home. Oh, by the way, I am VERY happy with the placement of this piercing.
This time, I have been VERY gentle with the piercing and have worked to clean it as Josh suggested with sea salt. It has healed very nicely after only 2 and a half weeks. It is not ready to tug on yet, but there is no infection. All in all, except for the pain, I am really happy with they way my new (best) nipple piercing is looking. One of these days I will go back for the other side and who knows what else. I will of course go to see Josh or Andrew. Both guys know what they are doing and make the piercing process as easy as possible.
