At age 69 I am probably too old to be getting into something like body piercing, but you are only as old as you feel, and I don't feel very old. Teenagers and young adults need to know that there are "old folks" right there with them who understand. On the inside we are all the same.
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon When Six months ago Artist Josh Studio Urban-X-Change Location Newport News, Va I keep up with the trends and became interested in body piercing. I did a lot on research and found BME. The more I learned the more interested I became in getting a piercing. I wanted to do this just to experience it and for my own satisfaction and pleasure. I am a very conservative person and no one would ever suspect that I would have a piercing.
To me, of all the piercings, the nipple is the most exotic and the sexiest. It just looks like it would be excruciating. I have always had very sensitive nipples and thought having a ring through one of them would be something I just had to experience. At long last I decided to have it done. I went to the Urban - x - Change where I had my frenum done (another successful story). I like going there because it is in a shopping center with a lot of activity and I felt comfortable going there. The young people who operate the place are respectful and treat me like anyone else, not an old guy.
I only wanted to do one nipple and decided that it would be best to do the left one because there would be less problem with the seat belt. That was the right decision. I asked about a ring or a bar and what guage. The piercer said that he used a 14 Ga 1/2 inch CBR, because it healed better. That agreed with my research. I was a little nervous and embarrassed about being there I must admit. I had to produce my drivers license and do the paper work. There was no question about my being old enough ! After a few minutes wait, Josh called me back. He was all gloved-up and ready. I took off my shirt and laid back in the chair which was cold as ice ! No problem producing perky nips. He marked the left one and clamped it. The clamp did not hurt at all. I didn't go through a lot of breathing exercises and countdowns. He said "are you ready for this ?" and whamo it was done and the ring in. I won't tell you it didn't hurt. It did, but the pain was gone in a second a nd then there was no pain at all.
I never had any pain after that and really no soreness, but it was sensitive, especially in the early days of aftercare. There was no bleeding and very few crusties. It was perfectly placed. I received written aftercare instructions. I used Satin anti bacterial soap in the shower once a day and Claire's Ear Care solution once or twice a day between showers. I was faithful in my aftercare for about four months. The piercing looked healed, there were no crusties, and it felt good. So I stopped the Satin and Claire's and just cleaned the piercing in the shower with soap and water and turning the ring in the piercing 6 - 10 times. After about 4 or 5 days a small red bump appeared on one of the openings. When this happened I returned to my original procedure and after a week or so the bump disappeared. I continued to use Satin and Claire's for another 3 months. Everything looked great and I slacked off again. Same thing happened again. I again returned to th e aftercare and the piercing healed fine. Now it is ok. I was told that a nipple piercing required 9 to 12 month to completely heal, so I will now continue with my aftercare until it is completely healed. My best advice to everybody is to keep it clean, stick with the prescribed aftercare until it is fully healed. Ask your piercer. Don't take a chance with it.
In reading BME experiences, people want to know if a nipple piercing makes it more sensitive, and if it makes it bigger, and if it makes a nipple "perky". From my experience I can tell you a piercing definitely makes the old nip more sensitive. Mine were sensitive from the start and now more sensitive. Sometimes too sensitive, like when I have something in my shirt pocket or something hits it. But I am not complaining ! Does a piercing make a nipple larger ? I would say so. It has to be bigger if only because there is a piece of metal through it, and I think over time it grows larger through formation of scar tissue. Mine is definitely larger. And what about being perky ? Some people just naturally have perky nips, some don't. Mine were pretty laid back. But I can tell you that with the piercing this one is perky all the time. Again it has no choice. With that ring through it, it has no where to go. All this probably speaks in favor of doing both nips at the same time. But if you don't do both, you will still look and feel great !
Now there is only one last question to be asked. If you had it to do over again, would you have the old nip pierced ? My answer is yes ! I have had minimal problems (probably my own fault), and the piercing is healing great after 8 months. It really looks great ! I enjoy lookiing at it every day and enjoy the pleasure it brings to me, especially when I am with people who would have no idea I had such a thing. Get up right now, get a good looking guy or gal to go with you to hold your hand (I wasn't that fortunate), and get it done ! You won't regret it !
I would be interested in hearing from young people about my experience.
