The journey to getting my nipple pierced began a week before I actually got it done. I went to visit my friend upstate New York, and we're driving around and spotted a tattoo place, Extreme Graphix. I said, "Dude, let's go get matching tattoos." My friend pulled the car around and we headed in.

We decided not to get any tattoos (we were going for 'dude' and 'sweet' in Chinese or Japanese symbols, ha!) but I said to both Dans, "I should get my nipple pierced." They were both down for the idea, only I really wasn't. Dan, the cute tattoo/piercer guy, told me that it hurts men more to get their nipples pierced and that if I like it and want to do it, I shouldn't let a little pain get in the way. He also saw the fact that I have a tattoo across my lower back, and he's like if you can do that, you can get your nipple pierced. My friend Dan chimes in, "Pain is temporary." But, I punked out. Alas, it wasn't in the stars for my nipple that day.
So, I'm back home, in New York City on a Tuesday and I really, really want to get pierced. I already have 5 tattoos and I have wanted my nose pierced forever and a day, but I can't do it because of work. All my tattoos can be covered for work; I'm such the little corporate diva by day. So, anyway, I get on this site and read ALL the nipple piercing stories and I decided that, if they can do it, I can do it, too. I decided to get my right nipple done, because it's less sensitive than the left. I told my roomies that I was getting it done on Friday at Cassioppia. We pass it all the time when we shop down the famous 8th Street and Carmen got good reviews on this site.
Friday was here before I knew it. I was so friggin' nervous. My roommate was getting hers done, too. After we filled out all the paperwork and all that good stuff, we had to wait for about 15 minutes. While we're waiting, we looked at one of the tattoo artist's portfolios. I opened up the book and guess who was staring back at me? It was a picture of Dan Ross, the tattoo/piercer guy from Extreme Graphix that I had just met the week before! Oh my God! This was written in the stars. And I was at a place named after a star!!! Coincidence, I think NOT. That's when I knew that this piercing was meant to be.
"Send the piercings up!" we hear. So we head up the tiny staircase to meet our doom. Well, that's how it felt at the time. Carmen was nice and put us at ease. I have to admit I also liked the fact that a Latina was piercing me. You don't see that very often. You go girl!
Anywho, I had to be strong because I am the crazy, daring one, so I couldn't show too much fear or my friend would have chickened out. I went first, of course. But the whole process was going too quickly for me. I thought to myself, "Can't this chick buy me dinner before she starts touching my boob?" Carmen tells me not to look, take a deep breath, and then...I am pierced. I looked at her and started laughing, "Oh my God! Is that it?" I looked at my friend and told her it did not hurt. It seriously did not hurt me. My ear cartilage piercing hurt way more than that. I told Carmen how good she was and I was still in shock about the lack of pain I was experiencing. My friend went next and it did hurt her, but not a lot. She just said "Ow!" and that was it. That was it!!!
I love my piercing. I look at it all the damn time. Sometimes I go to the bathroom at work and sneak a peek. Damn, my babes look good enough to..... Well, they just look good. It looks sooo damn sexy (did I say that already?) But what's important is that it makes ME feel sexy, like I have this secret that only a select few (ok maybe A LOT more than a few) people can see. I'm the corporate diva with a secret, which excites me.
My boob did throb and was sore afterwards, but it was no big deal. After the piercing, I had to hop on the train to go to an office goodbye party. While on the train people were giving me these weird looks. Okay, I did have my hand over my boob, but I was protecting it. Better I protect my boob, then have to KILL someone who bumped into me.
So, the first time I cleaned my nipple in the shower, I got a little lightheaded. This also happened the first time I cleaned my navel piercing (I wonder what that's about?) It's been a little over a week since I've been pierced and there is no pain. I just have to be careful about the type of bras and shirts I wear to work, because you can see the piercing sometimes and it looks like I have a third nipple (as my co-worker pointed out to me one day.)
For anyone thinking about getting your nipple pierced, I say, "Just do it!"
