I had wanted my nipples pierced for about a year before actually getting them done. I was taking about it for a few weeks when I decided that enough is enough. I called up a friend to come with me for some emotion support, and it was off to get pierced.

I decided to go to Ground Zero because a close friend had got pierced there many times in the past. He said it was a good place, and I trusted his word. When I arrived at the studio, it must have been apparent that I was extremely nervous. The pierced, Paula, was very understanding. She kept telling me that it would be okay and to calm down. I felt comfortable with her, which made easier. After filling out some information and having a copy of my license made, I was one step closer to having my piercing completed.

While in the room, I had to remove everything from the waist up. I was then asked to stand up so the location of the piercing could be marked. When that was done I asked to look in the mirror to make sure I like the location. I was then asked if I would prefer to sit of lay down for the actual piercing. I chose to lay down for the reason that I felt more comfortable that way. Paula then cleaned off my nipples and told me I was all ready for the piercing. It was at this point when I became most nervous. Paula assured me that everything would be fine. At that, I clutched my friend's hand and was ready. My left nipple was pierced first. I was told to take a deep breath, and when I exhaled, the needle would go through. I did as told. It was painful, but not as bad as I expected. It was more like I slight burning than an actual pinch. Once the needle was in I felt slightly relieved. The jewelry then went in easily. Now it was onto my right nipple. I was told to b reathe again, and like before, when I exhaled the needle would go through. The right nipple hurt slightly more than the left. I was told that the second one always hurts more. The jewelry was then put into my nipple. The balls on the hoops were put into place, and I was done. I was shocked that it took so little time to finish everything. I had put so much hype into getting my piercing that I was kind of sad that it was over already. I just stayed there for a few moments to take in all that just happened. I was in a short of shock that I had just actually got pierced.

I then went and looked at my new piercings in the mirror and, of course, loved them. I put my bra and shirt back on and went to talk about the care of my new piercing. I got a sheet of paper that told me how to care for my nipple piercing. I was told to wash them out with dial (or any antibacterial soap) two to three times a day. When cleaning the piercing, I have to pick out the little crusties and rotate the jewelry. Also, I could use sea salt (with out iodine) to help heal my piercing. I was also told to sleep was a bra on because it would keep the piercing more in place so it would not become irritated. My only main concern was the fact that I swim, and I did not know how the chlorine water would effect my piecing. I was told to use a product called Tegaderm, found in any local pharmacy, to cover my piercing when I swim.

When I walked out of the studio, I was in some pain, but nothing too bad. However, I did not drive my car the rest of the day because the seatbelt rubbed against my new piercing, causing me more pain. The first two day were rather painful because I slept on my stomach and irritated the piercings. The sea salt did help a bit.

It is now a week later. I still sleep on my stomach, but it does not seem to bother me anymore. My nipple piercings are doing much better now. I am no longer afraid to hug people and have other brush up against me. However, sometimes when one of the piercing gets touched, it still causes me pain. All in all, the piercing experience was a positive one. The place I went to was very good, and the people there were extremely nice. I enjoy my new piercing, and have showed it to many friends. If anyone is thinking about getting a nipple piercing, I would say go for it. It was a wonderful piercing and not too much pain.
