Firstly let me congratulate you on your very informative web site.
At A Glance Author anonymous When A month ago Artist Dr Richard Janus Studio Sydney Medical Body-Piercing Clinic Location Anzac Parade, Kensington NSW Australia I am a young at heart 60 year old male who for a number of years has wanted to have his nipples pierced, but because of my age I have always been a bit self conscious of having them pierced. I was also worried that I might flinch during the piercing and end up with a messy piercing so have always put it off.
Over the years I have enjoyed pulling and inflicting pain on my nipples and on several occasions have been successful in pushing a sterilised sewing needle through them after numbing them with ice packs. I have even contemplated purchasing the correct equipment and doing my own piercing. I have found that by pulling and squeezing them with pliers over the years they have doubled in size.Perhaps this is not quite correct, there is now no distinction between areola and nipple, just two lovely big nipples.
Recently while surfing the net I came across a body piercer/medical practitioner or perhaps that should be the other way around, who operated a painless body piercing clinic. As this appeared to be the answer to my fear of pain I contacted the Clinic which is called the Sydney Medical Body Piercing Clinic and spoke with the owner, a Dr Richard Janus. Dr Janus explained his procedures and assured me I wouldn't feel any pain and an appointment was made for the next day. Because I was a bit sensitive about the whole thing he offered me an after hours appointment which I accepted.
After I arrived at the Clinic and my nipples were examined by Richard the various types of jewelery were discussed. He suggested I start with 14 gauge barbells in each nipple, indicating the bars would heal faster and were less likely to cause problems. I indicated that I might like to change then for captured bead rings at a later date so he suggested he insert internally threaded bars.I totally agreed with his suggestions, after all he is the expert, and decided on two 14 gauge horizontal barbells.
The no pain procedure went as follows. After marking the entry/exit points for the bars on each of my nipples the entire nipple area of both nipples was disinfected with Betadine antiseptic solution This was allowed to soak in for a couple of minutes and had a slightly numbing effect on my nipples. Something similar I guess to what the dentist rubs on your gums prior to an injection. After several minutes the nipples were pricked with the fine needle to make sure they were numb. I felt nothing and my nipples were then injected with lidocaine, a common local anaesthetic; again through a very fine needle which I didn't feel. The moment had come, a cannula was then passed through my nipple. I was afraid to look down in case there was blood. I always feel faint at the sight of blood. The bar was then inserted through the cannula sheath. Once through the cannula was withdrawn and the balls were screwed on each end of the bar. I couldn't believe how quick and painless the proced ure was. Richard invited me to inspect his work and asked whether I still wanted the other nipple pierced. The piercing was perfect and I definitely wanted the other one pierced.
The second piercing was successfully completed and this time I was brave enough to watch the whole procedure.
I was so excited and pleased with the work I felt I would like some more piercings and we discussed the possibility at a later date of inserting a vertical bar in each nipple.
Richard said my nipples were large enough( I have put in a lot of work over the years to increase their size) to easily accommodate a vertical bar in each. How about two cross over bars also in each nipple I asked. Probably possible with care he said.
Its now been a little over a month since I had my nipples pierced and have to date had little discomfort or pain. For the first few days I needed to take a couple of Panadol but other than that nothing else.
Each morning under the shower I have cleaned my nipples with an antibacterial soap and in the evening soaked them in a saline solution. Its a little time consuming but well worth the end result. I am looking forward to summer and being able to show my piercings in public at the beach. I am anticipating a few stares because of my age and as I have not seen anyone in past summers with both nipples pierced. In fact you are lucky to one pierced nipple. Who knows I may start a trend amongst the old folk who are young at heart.
I have decided next winter to have the three more bars in each nipple, a vertical and two cross overs to form a star effect.
Finally I would like to recommend the Sydney Medical Body Piercing Clinic to anyone in Sydney who wants a painless a piercing.
