Today I finally took the plunge and got my nipples pierced! I have been thinking about it for a while and today I decided I couldn't wait any longer. After much research I decided to go to New Tribe. Their website was informational and I felt like I would have a good experience there. When I got there this proved correct.

I was greeted by a couple girls at the reception desk and was asked to fill out a form and verify my age and what type of work I wanted done. It was very brief and I only had to wait a couple minutes after that before Joanne called me in to her room. I felt like I should have been nervous but I wasn't. Joanne immediately put me at ease with her friendly nature and smile. Her room was cool too-a huge framed Pulp Fiction poster hung on her wall along with various colorful drawings. The room was well lit and everything was laid out and labeled and she pointed out all the materials she was going to use. She asked me if I had any questions and I told her I did but couldn't remember any of them! She laughed and said that happens with a lot of people.

At this point I took off my shirt and bra so she could clean and mark my nipples. I had no problem taking off my clothes in front of her, which I thought was kind of strange because usually I am pretty modest. She swabbed my nipples and applied some yellow iodine before marking the placement with a pen. I checked it out in the mirror and it looked good to me. It was now the point of no return! Joanne had me lay down on the examination table and clamped my nipple. I began to finally get a bit nervous. She was about to shove a needle through one of the most tender parts of my body! I didn't let this get to me and continued to take deep breaths and then closed my eyes.

"Okay, take a breath..." she said. I already had that part covered. I kept my eyes closed and waited for the pinch. Roughly one and a half seconds later I felt the needle enter my flesh. Although this was quite painful it was also strangely enjoyable. I could feel this cool hard metal inside me and it was like no other sensation. The needle passed through my nipple and I could feel it penetrate through to the other side. She quickly grabbed the ring that she had already widened with pliers for the insertion and pushed it through the hole. I kept my eyes shut for the entire process, and didn't open them till she said "Okay, ready for the next one when you are!" I didn't feel faint or anything so I turned around with my head on the other side of the table to give her access to my other nipple. This time I was a bit more apprehensive with the pain of the first one still in my head. We went through the same thing: clamp, breath, penetration. This one hurt just as much, but seeme d to be done quicker. She grabbed the jewelry and slid it in the new hole as I laid there. "Okay," she said. "It's all done".

I sat up on the table and looked at my new jewelry in the full length mirror. They looked so cool! "How are they?" she asked. "I love them! They look great!" I responded. She was happy to hear this. While I put my bra and shirt back on I watched her throw my needles away and clean her station. She then explained the after care for me. She suggested that I used tea tree oil on them for the first seven days which I had not heard before. I asked her how long it would be before I could change the rings to barbells. (I would have had them pierced with barbells to begin with but it was $40 more for some reason and I didn't have the money.) She said to wait two months for them to heal and then it wouldn't be a problem. She also said if I had any problems with my piercings (like allergic reactions or infections) to come in any time and she would check them out for free. This made me really happy and I told her I would.

She wished me a good afternoon and I was on my way with a little pamphlet on piercing after care that she gave me. I was very pleased with my experience. I was surprised to not be light headed or faint at all because that happened to me when I got my Madonna piercing. However this was much less bloody, so that's probably why. My nipples didn't actually start to hurt till the walk home. They have been sore on and off all day but that's to be expected. I have cleaned them already with Neutrogena and teat tree oil as per Joanne's suggestion. So far there have hardly any crusties or blood which I am very happy about. Now I just can't wait till I can put in some barbells!

For anyone considering this piercing I highly recommend going for it. Yeah, it hurts for a second during the procedure but the result is so worth it! They look so neat, and people are always impressed when you tell them about it. I definitely think they are a great piercing to have.
