Ok, so they weren't that bad. At least, they didn't look that bad. But what can I say? I am an anal bitch at times. While I was amongst the first of my peers to even contemplate nipple piercing, I was amongst the last to actually get them done. Years went by, other holes were inflicted and healed, others inflicted, infected and removed. I finally decided it was time.

Monday evening, 20:00 hours. A close friend of mine was chauffeuring me around the town as we were looking for something to do. We both had a little extra cash, and were pissed off that the best shop in town had close a half an hour early. Then I remembered a place that was open until 11:00pm. My friend and I were both a little hesitant about getting pierced in this place, but I had been pierced by Bailey several times before and everything had always turned out all right.

So we get to the shop, tell them to set up for four nipples and sit down to fill out our paperwork. We wait patiently as our four, fourteen gauge captive bead rings are autoclaved and the area is prepped. We watch as countless girls come in to get their navels pierced, and cheesy butt-rock guys sift through booklets of flash work contemplating their next tattoo. The butterflies came and went, and before we knew it, we were both topless in the backroom. It was a little weird at first because the curtain did not quite close all the way and the twenty thousand guys that worked there kept conveniently forgetting things and had to enter the room several times over. But, we are both nudists so it did not really bother us that much.

It was finally the moment of truth. My friend made me go first, as I usually make her go first so that she has no excuse to chicken out. I take my seat and the guy cleans off my nipples with iodine, marks the spots, and asks me if I am ready. He did not use clamps (thank God), but I now wish that he had. The pain was weird. It hurt pretty bad, bet less than many of my other piercings. It was really funny looking down and seeing two needles poking out of my boobs. Then came the jewelry insertion. Easy as pie. I hardly bled at all. I was all gauzed up and ready to go. It wasn't until after my friend was finished with her session that I momentarily felt nauseous. The nausea did not last long, however, the pain certainly did.

The guys at the shop almost forgot to charge us, but I spoke up and gave them their money and tip. I thanked them and we went on our way.

I spent fifteen minutes two times per day soaking each nipple in lightly salted warm bottled water. I always skipped out early on the salt soaks with my other piercings, but I was determined to keep my aftercare consistent for as long as I needed to with these.

Two days, then a week, then two weeks, and all things seemed to be doing well. Then the pain started. My left nipple felt as if some one were dragging me around by it or as if I had gone jogging in a sand paper bra. It was white looking and after the swelling went down, it was apparent how crooked and close to the tip it was. My righty was doing all right, save for the slight crookedness, and it almost seemed dead. But at this point, I was just glad it didn't hurt. Weeks went by, and nothing, despite salt soaks and ibuprofen, helped the situation. I tried padded bras, I tried no bras. I tried it all. I finally decided to take it out. And, of course, I could not be lop sided, so I took them both out.

I intend to get them repierced at 12 gauge verticals. This time at a much more qualified shop. Now that I live near Tempe and Phoenix I know of two great shops I could go to! Thankfully, my friends' nipples are doing well, as she is much more determined to heal below the neck piercings than I am. I have all ways been more of a facial gal. I have always debated the necessity of using clamps, and now I at least know that if I doubt the piercer at all, but am still willing to let him work on me, I should at least ask he use clamps, or whatever other aides he might need to make the piercing perfect. At least he stands behind his work and is all ways willing to rework anything that his clients are unhappy with.
