I am supposed to put a warning on here about self piercing. You should always go to a professional piercer. They know what they are doing, they have the education on it, and lets just face it, it's the smart thing to do. But here is my story,

For as long as I could remember, I have been fascinated with nipple piercings. It didn't matter whether they were on a male or female. I think that that kind of body mod is beautiful, and very sexy. I knew from early on, that I absolutely had to have mine pierced. Let me also say, that I have a very large aversion to needles, though with 2 piercings and 2 tattoos, you couldn't tell. I'm not so bad when I do the piercings myself, versus having someone do them for me. Call me weird, but if I'm not the one doing it, I won't have it done.

Anyways, one night I was surfing the web, and came across a site where I ordered my piercing supplies. I was so excited and couldn't wait till they got here. A few days later everything was sitting in my mailbox, and I ran inside and was looking at everything. I saw the needles and started to chicken out a little. But I finally told myself that I was going to do it, no if's, and's or but's about it.

That night, I took a shower to get myself relaxed, and it helped some. I was really nervous, and shaking. I was also terribly excited. I brought out my supplies and got ready. I did my right one first, secured the clamp and started to put the needle to my skin and push it through. It didn't hurt as much as I thought it was going to, but being the way that I am, I had to go slow, very slow. I couldn't go fast. It took me an hour to pierce my right nipple. Yes, I know this causes a lot more pain, but it was worth it to me. I would push the needle in a little then stop for a minute, then push in a little bit more, then stop. Though I was surprised that there was absolutely no blood loss. After I got my 14g straight barbell in, I was coming down from my adrenaline high, and had to wait till the next night to do my left nipple.

But the next night came, and using the same procedure, I did my left side. Though, I think I knew what to expect, because my left side only took me 20 minutes. Again, there was no blood loss, and the pain was minimal. I did it! I just laid back and played with my new piercings and was completely amazed that I actually went through with it. I was so scared that I was going to get an infection or that they would migrate out (my belly button ring migrated out). I was really good about making sure I cleaned my new piercings well, I tried not to play with them, and made sure that when ever I touched them, my hands were clean. So, no infections up to this point.

Now, 3 months after I did my own nipple piercings, they are healing well, and I can change the jewelry as I please. My only regret is that I didn't take enough time to properly place my right side, because its crooked. But I think it just adds character. I've thought about piercing my right nipple again, to get one placement correctly, but I am not sure if I want 2 piercings in that one or not. I'm rather sentimental about the first one because it was the very first nipple piercing for me, and I don't want to take it out. I don't care that it's a little crooked.

The only downside that I have discovered to having my nipples pierced is that when my nipples get hard, they stay hard for hours. This can be really uncomfortable when they start to ache. There's nothing like a dull aching in your nipples for hours. I also had a semi bad experience riding roller coasters at a local theme park, but that was a bit of carelessness on my part.

The upside to having them done is that I never used to have much feeling in my nipples, and since they've been done, I have an abundance of feeling. I think that a lot of women who have large chests like I do, might say that there is very little feeling in their nipples. My response to that... "Get them pierced!!"

I recommend that anyone who is thinking about piercing their nipples, to just do it. You spend more time working yourself up over it, and in the end there is a little discomfort when it's actually being done, but well worth it. I love mine, and wouldn't trade mine for anything.

Now I'm just trying to talk myself into doing my tongue.. Or maybe something on my hands. Well, there's always a few other places I can think of too...
