Hi there. I'd like to start out telling you a little about me. I am 24, 5'8" and 120 pounds. I have tongue, belly, and vertical hood piercings. I have researched the nipple piercings for a few months now, reading everything I possibly could about the experiences, healing, and aftercare. I have always loved the look of piercings, especially the nipples.

I decided I wanted them done. I was going to get them pierced as a present for myself for finally finding a job ;o) I was going to wait until my first paycheck came, but thought ah hell, labor day weekend is here, why not? I can have 3 days to get used to them before going to work.

So, I took a drive to the studio, which was around 40 minutes. My husband works offshore, so he wasn't there to see it. I got to the studio, nervous as a whore in church. I told Chad, the piercer, what I wanted, and he gave me a choice between horseshoe barbells and straight barbells. The straight were my choice. I wanted them pierced at an angle, and horseshoe barbells would look funny.

Chad seemed like a nice guy, kind of quiet and softspoken, but full of confidence. I told him I was terrified, and he told me it won't be that bad. We went into the room, where he closed and locked the door. I felt better about that... couldn't imagine someone coming in right in the middle and gawking.

Anyway, he washed his hands, put on gloves, and started cleaning my nipples off. He placed the marks on them and kept looking from right to left to make sure they were even. He asked me to take a look to see if I thought they looked good. They did, so I sat down on the gynecologist looking seat and was surprised I wasn't shaking. I asked him if I should sit up or lay down, and he said whichever way I felt more comfortable. I laid down and told him if I passed out to just keep right on going!

At this point, I was absolutely terrified! There was no turning back... the man had already gotten everything ready and seen my boobs, so I couldn't leave if I'd wanted to! That was the worst part, knowing that this big ol' needle was about to be violently shoved through two of my more sensitive areas.

He applied the clamp, which wasn't bad at all. He didn't tell me to breathe and he would do it on a breath out, which I was glad. I didn't want to know it was about to happen. I started taking deep breaths, my eyes squeezed shut, and the needle was pushed through. It wasn't nearly as bad as I had expected. I thought it would be a sharp, intense pain, but it wasn't. I'm the biggest wuss anyone will ever meet, and I HATE pain of any kind. It wasn't bad at all. It was more of a dull pain, like a few minutes after you stub your toe when the ache starts.

He put the barbell in, which was worse than the actual piercing. The threads HURT. Then, on to the next one. Same thing, only I remembered all the stories saying the second one hurt worse. It did, but not a whole hell of a lot worse.

I laid there on the table for a few minutes, and he asked if I was ok. I said yeah, I thought it would be much worse. He gave me the aftercare sheet and answered my few questions. I'm supposed to clean it with Original Dial Antibacterial Soap and do sea salt soaks. Then he told me I could stay as long as I needed to calm down.

The drive home wasn't too bad, I had left my bra off and the bumps in the road didn't bother me at all. I wear a C cup bra, and thought for sure it would hurt, but it didn't.

All in all, it was a very good experience, and I was surprised that I did as well as I did. I didn't get lightheaded or anything, and I didn't even come close to passing out. It didn't hurt nearly as bad as I had expected, and I am very pleased with the result! Of course, it happened 3 hours ago, and I haven't even begun to move around much. Cleaning will be interesting, I just hope it doesn't hurt! I need to go get some sea salt for the soaks, they didn't have it when I stopped at Wal Mart.

If you're thinking about getting it done, go for it! It won't be as bad as you think, and you will be stoked about doing it!
