Lets begin with me saying that, from about age 10 onwards, when I first saw my sisters nostril piercing I had wanted to get a piercing of some sort but I could never decide what. More to the matter my mother strictly prohibited getting anything done to my face. So I eventually came to the conclusion that I would get my right nipple pierced, it's in a discrete location that doesn't have to be seen if you don't want it to be, and I wouldn't call it too extreme for a first piercing. (and if your wondering why I chose right nipple, its because I play guitar, so the strap would get caught on my left nipple, and all i can say about that is that it would hurt big-time!)
At A Glance Author Mitz Contact Mitz@bme.anon When N/A Artist Mike Studio I forget the real name, i call it Mike's place Location Bracknell I didn't end up doing very much research into this piercing, as i didn't know about BME.com or any other piercing and body modification related sites, so I was feeling a little anxious on the saturday morning of getting it done, I had no idea what it was going to be like. But since then I have learnt to research piercings and learn about any of the risks involved before getting them done. I didn't even know that some piercings could be rejected, even though I now know nipple's have quite a low rate of rejection.
I walked down in to Bracknell high street, past a little precinct, and round the corner to the small secluded tattoo studio at the back of the car-park which I had been informed also did body piercings.
On just walking through the door I felt intimidated, it could be said to be a typical setting, a bunch of big guys that were covered from arm to arm in tattoos sitting around discussing bikes and music. I sat down and talked about music with them while waiting for a woman who was getting a tattoo on her back finished off. Then the mohawked assistant Rob, came and asked me "Piercing or tattoo?" considering I was only 15 at the time, the question shocked me, I said "Piercing of course, I'm not old enough for tattoos yet. How much would it be to get my nipple done?" Rob replied "25 quid for all regular body piercings" That may seem like an overly cheap price, but the service is good quality, sterile and safe.
I was then taken into the studio and sat on the big chair, much like a dentists chair. The piercer/tattoo artist Mike span me in the chair towards him and said "right then, shirt off if your getting this nipple done" I did as he said, then he got out a felt-tip and started drawing lines around my nipple which he later explained were to mark the points of entry and exit for the needle. He spent about two minutes making sure he'd got the lines straight. Then he clamped it, which actually ended up hurting the most out of the whole damm experience. Mike said "This'll probably hurt like a bitch cause its your first piercing, take a deep breath in 3.....2.....1" In it went. He then said "you can breath out now" because I had just frozen up expecting the worst to happen to me. I looked down at my nipple which had the needle through it and chuckled cause it wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. It didn't hurt, though it did feel a little odd because I cou ld actually feel my body saying 'hang on a sec, that's a foreign object".
Mike then asked me if I wanted a barbell or a ring, I chose ring for no reason other than I thought it looked nice. It did hurt a little when he slid the ring through the hole that was now left by the needle. He let me have a look in the mirror and the people in the studio commented on the good job. I thanked Mike after he gave me the info on how to care for my new piercing, and was on my way home with an enormous grin!
My nipple ring healed almost completely after about 3 and a half weeks, I cleaned it using salt water which worked just fine and it stopped any infection and I think it sped up the healing process. Since then I have had my tongue pierced at Mike's place, and I have booked myself in to get my septum pierced. He does a good job at a reasonable price, and he knows about piercings (unlike some places that couldn't even tell you what a scaffold or a nape is)
And anyone wishing to get a nipple piercing, I strongly recommend that you Go for it! They're great, and you'll forget how you ever lived without one.
