So, it was Canada Day, July 1st. Me and my girls were all out downtown sweating like pigs and we decided to step into a bank to cool off.

All my friends were already drunk, and I wasn't. I guess I wanted Canada day to be memorable. And, although I did drink later on that night, I decided to get my nipple pierced.
Well, I had gotten my first paycheque that day, and I was aching to spend some serious cash. I looked across the street, and there was Universal. It didn't look too busy, so I took out 50 bucks, and headed across the street.
"Vei, where you going?" said a friend.
" Yea...I'm getting the nip pierced." I said.
"We'll come with."
At first, I wanted to check out how much different stores charge. I checked out Living Colour, which was 40, and Universal which was 45. Living Colour looked good and all, but it was a little sketchy and I didn't feel as comfortable in the store. I'm pretty stuck to Universal for all my piercings. Plus, as I was leaving Living Colour, they ask behind me " You're 18 right?" I was surprised that you needed to be 18...I will tell you later what their reason is for having nipple piercings allowed at age 18 and not 16.
Then I walked next door, and went into Universal. After checking out some of the jewlery I might buy for my ears, one of the tattoo artists came over because no one had helped me yet. It was really hot that day, so I'm guessing all the front end people thought I was just in there to cool off. I used the bank for that. So,I told the guy at the counter I wanted to get get my nipple pierced. He seemed pleased, and i signed the papers. Nice thing about Universal is you only have to be 16 for nipple piercings. Most places you need to be 18, because " they are still growing," says the people at Living Colour. Whatev! Your skin regenerates and grows everyday, so then they're telling me that I shouldn't get my eyebrow pierced when I'm 16, because my skin is still growing? Hey, I know, nipple's are a little different, but let's be honest, by the time you're 16, you're not going to grow much more. I'll stop being bitter and continue my story.
So i signed and was on the list to get it done. There was only a tragus piercing ahead of me, so it wasn't that long of a wait. I wasn't that nervous, I have other piercings and I figured that this piercing would be the same. Which it was, I guess, but was a little more painful.
I got in the room, brought one friend with me. She's seen me naked before, so no shame, actually...I have no shame anyways. So, i take off my shirt and she marks where she was going to pierce. I thought it looked good, so i sat down, she cleans the area, shows me all the sterile and new equipment. She clamps my nipple, and then tells me to check out the babe on the wall. She counts and then pierces. AHHHH! That's what I call pain. It hurt...loads. I was shaking after and had the really surprised look of pain on my face. The initial needle hurt, but putting the ring in and the bead in didn't. It was throbbing after that, but all in all, I was happy. At first, it looked a little strange. I wasn't used to seeing one of my nipples with a ring through it.
If you're reading this, and you want to get your nipple pierced though, go for it. It's a wicked fun piercing, and I call it my secret weapon. You're with someone, and then, wow, they see the piercing. Of course, my piercings mean more to me than that, but it's nice to be recognized after all that pain. Personally, I think this piercing is an awesome piercing for yourself. It's not visible like a facial piercing, but it is very personal and intimate. Only your closest see it, or no one sees it at all. Great piercing and definetly worth it.
Oh ya, it hurt for a few hours after. But the next morning, barely no pain at all. I just clean it with Spectrojel after I shower and that is it. It healed after 1 month. No scar tissue or problems at all.
For all the girls out there wondering about child rearing later on, have no fear. I asked my piercer if having a nipple piercing ruins all the milk glands, but it doesn't. She said it ruins at most 4 milk glands. Most girls have 32 milk glands, and not all of them are used while feeding a baby. No problems there.
And I recommend getting it pierced with a ring and not a barbell, heals better and looks better!
Peace!
