After doing a ton of research on BME and talking to studios and other folks who had their nipples done, I finally took the plunge and pierced my nipples yesterday. It is a piercing I've wanted for a long time, and like my other mods, I wait at least two years to be sure I really want something done. Also because I can procrastinate like nobody's business.

After all, I don't do mods for the pain experience, actually I am a big wuss about pain and needles. However, after reading and reading and reading what must be hundreds of stories on BME, the urge took over and down to the studio I went, with my pal for 'moral support.'
I have to say I was much calmer on the ride over than I expected. Once we were in the studio, the butterflies began jumping a bit in the tum, but nothing too bad. There was a father in with his daughters, one of whom was having her navel done, so we waited a bit while i filled out the paperwork and looked at all the great jewelry they have for sale. After the young lady was finished, the father decided he also wanted a piercing! Go dad!
Mr. Piercer Man said he had to wait, as I was up next, which was great cause the nerves were really starting up and I wanted to get going. Up into the room area I went, Mr. Piercer Man went through everything, showing me the autoclave, the sealed instruments, etc. as he and the other piercers had done many times before (i now have 13 holes!) and we were on our way. he pulled the curtain, off went my shirt, on went the cleaning solution, more gloves, and we were ready to do the placement. I trusted his opinion completely, and was right in doing so.
Now it was Time...out came the needle(after another glove change), I grabbed my friend's hand, and a hunk of my own skin(habit) and Yoinks! Through the nip he went- the pain lasted a very short time, as all the endorphins rushed down, and the jewelry was in before i realized..yahoo! I did it! Time for the next side! Now I was excited that I made it through the first one, and I was ready for the next one..after more gloves, a new sealed needle and clamp, he pierced again- this one hurt worse, and my pal probably has permanent damage from me squeezing her hand so hard, but still not terribly bad, 'cause it was over quickly. Again the CBR went in without me noticing, and I was done! I sat for a minute because i have always gotten a bit lightheaded after any work, even my lobes- Mr Piercer Man was very attentive, got some nice cold water and let me sit as long as i needed. My right side( the 2nd side pierced) was hurting a bit, rather like a new bee sting, but the left was fine- I was quite surprised that the pain really wasn't as bad as I had imagined. Of course, it rarely is, since i have(what seems to be) an infinite amount of brain devoted to terrifying me with all the worst-case scenario clips and bits i have read through the years. I asked a few questions about aftercare, he ran through the steps again and gave me a handy business card with aftercare instructions on the back, and made sure I understood that I could call or come in anytime with questions or concerns. He also let me know that changing jewelry the first time was something that was included in the price.
After paying and tipping, my pal and I went off toward the car to go home, and a slight stinging came to my nipples, I'm not sure if it was the 98 degree weather, or if that's a normal thing, but i popped a Tylenol and that took care of that. Then a quick run to the store for more sea-salt, we arrived home to show the hubby, who gave a look of pain..he has no mods whatsoever. Then a cleaning with sea-salt and bactine rinse for the nips and my recently done navel( after much experimenting, this cleaning regimen works best for my body), I was able to sleep with no problems, cleaning has been pain -free with only the slightest amount of blood on the sides, and wearing loose clean t-shirts really has been great! I love the way my nipples look, I love the rings and heartily recommend this piercing to anyone who is thinking about it! Body Art is a fantastic, friendly and caring place to get tattooed and pierced- or just hang out, those people are hilarious!
