First, let's just say that I have always been insanely afraid of getting my nipples pierced. My boyfriend had tried talking me into it numerous amounts of times, but I've always refused too, because of this reason. I've had plenty of piercings done, including surface piercings, and on occasion, even play piercings. To be honest, I don't even know what it is about nipple piercings that scare me.
At A Glance Author anonymous When Three months ago My boyfriend and I took a trip to New York, for my birthday. As we sat in the hotel room one of the nights trying to think of things to do, he suggested that we go look at piercing and tattoo shops. I agreed, so we did.
We came across a studio, which I can't remember the name of for the life of me, and went in to look at the work. He decided to get some work done on one of his tattoos, and told me that I should get a new one. Since I'm not really into getting tattoos at random, I decided against that. Then he went on to say, "will you get your nipples done if i pay?' I thought about it- I could get them pierced and not have to pay, or I can keep on living, while wanting them pierced yet being too scared. I decided to go for it.
After sitting on the couch taking a few deep breaths, I went up to the counter and told the girl behind it what i had planned on doing. Just talking to her made me nervous, she was extremely attractive. She then told me that SHE would be the one to pierce them; which led to my heart basically jumping out of my chest.
So i showed her my ID, and filled out some paper work while she photocopied it. While staring into space, I heard, "alright, lets go." We walked to a glass case that was up against the wall on the other side of the shop, to pick out jewelery. She asked me if i wanted captives or barbells, and i asked her which would be better to use. She told me that captives would be easier than barbells to clean, but in her opinion, barbells look better. I agreed, and picked out 16g silver barbells.Then we went into the room.
I watched her clean off the counters and get all new piercing supplies, which is always a good thing to watch. When she finished, she told me to take off my shirt and my bra. I'm really not too fond of getting (almost) naked in front of people i don't know, so this was somewhat uncomfortable. So i sat there in silence feeling more awkward than ever while she examined my nipples. She went on to mark them, then told me to stand up and face the mirror that was on the wall. By this time i was really glad it was just her and I in the room, because this seriously was a really awkward situation but I was getting use to it (and the fact that she was more attractive than ever helped a bit).
After deciding that the placement was perfect, she told me it was 'about that time.'
I sat back on the bed and just layed there with my eyes closed. I was more nervous than anything. I layed there for about a minute and I heard her say "take three deep breaths, and the third time you exhale, that is when I'm going to put the needle through." So I took the deep breaths and the needle went through. It wasn't half as bad as I thought it was going to be. I then felt the barbell go through, which was the painful part, in my opinion. She did the other nipple the same exact way.
When she finished, she told me to stay laying down while she cleaned everything up. After she cleaned, she put bandages over my nipples so the blood wouldn't stain my clothing. Putting a bra on was complicated, because not just my nipples, but entire breasts we in pain by this time. I got up and went over to the mirror, pulling up my shirt to admire my new piercings. I loved them.
She told me I handled it better than a lot of people she's pierced, which made me feel good. She gave me a paper with aftercare instructions on it, and went over them with me. I handed her the eighty dollars, plus a ten dollar tip, and went on my way.
They healed really nice, for the most part. They stayed swollen for a few days, but that is normal, and as soon as I put ice on them, the swelling went down a bit.
I would recommend not holding off on this piercing if you really want it, because once you do it, you'll be suprised at how it wasn't at all painful.
