Hey...This is my experience of getting my nipple pierced.

Some background info first: I already have 9 other piercings, all of them, minus one, have been pierced by the same person. Getting my nipple pierced was a substitute for not getting my tongue pierced, as I didn't think I'd be able to go through the pain. I then found out nipple hurts more, so no doubt I'll be going back for my tongue. Okay enough info there.

Right, well basically I hadn't been wanting my nipple pierced long, as I said before, it was instead of my tongue. So I'll not bore you with details but basically I went to Purple Body Piercing with my friend who'd had his nipple pierced about 2 weeks beforehand and said it hurt a lot. So in we went, filled in the forms, talked about the procedure, whilst basically Vince got ready. There was someone in having their navel pierced, so we had to hang around for about 15 minutes, which made me even more nervous.

Finally I got called through; I went by myself as I don't like people watching. I took off my top and sat down. I asked any questions I had, things like how long it would take, is it really as painful as rumoured etc. Vince cleaned off my nipple then drew out two horizontal dots and asked me to check them out. I looked in the mirror, and they looked good enough to me. I'm no expert, but they seemed to be alright to me.

So I lay down on the doctors style bed half naked with a guy who was about to stick a needle through me. He clamped my nipple (left one, as I'd told him earlier). It took him about 45 seconds to clamp, he said it was the most important part so it needed to be "perfect". He was ready, and asked me if I was okay, I said yeah and he told me to say "Go." when ready. I took a few deep breaths and then said "Go." Needle went straight through, no problem. I gasped, but it was nothing too bad. I was expecting ALOT more pain. Again, I was asked if I was ok, again replying "Yeah". Next was the jewellery. I'd asked for a CBR to be put through earlier, but he said I was advised to get a Bar. I still wanted a CBR and he said he would do it. So back to the piercing, Vince put through the jewellery. This hurt more than the piercing as it was slower. Still though, nothing too bad. He cleaned around the nipple, it was cold and my nipple was buzzing, but not hurting. I don't know how to descr ibe the feeling; Buzzing is the best word I can think of. Up I got, looked in the mirror. It looked pretty good. He'd put a bar through though. I told Vince and he was like "Oh damn, I'm really sorry, I'm just used to doing bars." I genuinely believed him and told him not to worry. He did make it out to be a genuine mistake, whether it was or not, I'm not sure. But all the same, I was very happy.

I walked out of the piercing room, feeling fine. We had a look around the shop. I'd been in loads before, but they get new jewellery in a lot and I'd been looking for a labret stud with a ring hanging down from the ball on the front (I'm not too sure what they're called). I still wasn't in pain, we went around town, my nipple was still 'buzzing' though. When I got home, I cleaned it and put a sterile patch I'd been given back over. I was supposed to keep it on until 7pm. There was some dry blood around the bar. This came off a few days later. It's been a week and a day now and everything seems fine, still, no pain. No blood. I haven't knocked it and it seems to be healing fine. I've been cleaning it twice a day with Purple Wound Wash then after a few days I swapped to Salt Soaks as I'd heard not to use Salt Soaks for the first few days as it can upset the piercing. Like I say, it seems to be healing fine and I'm happy with it :D

I'd definitely recommend it to anyone, and Purple is the most reputable place in my area and I think the pierces are great. If anyone has the bottom of their navel pierced, think of this comparison: I thought that the Lower Navel hurt about 5 times more than my nipple. It hurt SO much more, so basically I'd say painwise, its nothing. It looks good and it's a cool piercing if you're still at school as the teachers don't even know.

Happy Piercing :D xx
