I was the peircer...and it was my first peircing ever. To say the least, what I did wasn't very safe and I'm surprised that it worked out. I'm a 16 year old girl who has her nipple pierced and decided to peirce her guy friends' nipple.
My friend has never, ever wanted any piercings. He hated the idea and wasn't all that impresed when I got my eyebrow done. When I went on vacation and got my nipple pierced though, he was interested. We were lying in bed one night and I mentioned that i thought a nipple ring on him would look awesome. He confided that he had actually been thinking about it and pulled out a 14 gauge barbell! I was so excited, but in my little town, we have no professional peircers (except for those who have dubbed themselves that). At the time, I was intersted in becoming a peircer and wanted to try it out, so he told me that he was wondering if I wanted to do it. I immediatly said yes, but then thought about it and thought that it may be a mistake.
After him convincing me and a night of sleeplessness, I figured what the hell? If he was willing to trust me to do this, I should take the chance! The next morning, I got up and 'borrowed' some money from him and went the the local 'smoke' store and bought a packaged, sterilized 14-gauge piercing needle. We already had the ring, so all i need now was some antiseptic and a clamp. We found the antiseptic (since I had my nipple done about a week before,I knew what the after care would entail). I couldn't find a clamp though. I knew from talking to piercers and reading stories on BME that the clamp was usually only used to hold the area in place...so i figured I could improvise. I went back to his house and got ready. I boiled some water...obviously not as effective as an autoclave, but the best I could do. I ended up using an adjustable wrench as a semi-clamp. I threw the clamp and the barbell into the water and let it boil for a while. I layed out everything I would need on th e table...the antiseptic, the marker (natural dye), some kleenex, gloves, the barbell (one ball off) and the wrench. I had my friend sit down and drink something before, cause I know that low blood sugar can lead to fainting and other bad stuff.
So anyway, I was ready to start. At that moment, like five of his friends came in and of course they all wanted to see. They took seats all around and I began. I put on a pair of gloves and rubbed the antiseptic on his nipple area. Then I took the marker and marked two dots on either side of his nipple. I picked up the wrench and put it so that the needle would slip through the opening. I had him hold the wrench. I grabbed the needle and took it out of the package. I put it on one side of his nipple and asked it he was ready. He said to just do it so I pushed the needle through. The skin was much tougher than I thought it would be. I had to push harder than I thought. Finally the needle was through (in actuality, it had only been a second or two). I grabbed the barbell and threaded it through after the needle. I put the other ball on and screwed it tightly. I put some more antiseptic on and had him sit for a few minutes and drink a Pepsi.
It didn't really swell all that much and it apparently wasn't painful, not even the piercing part. He went to work that night and he was fine. A couple days (yeah, I know its bad) later it was VERY fun to play with. I did the piercing pretty straight and it didn't migrate at all. He doesn't have it anymore though, because he got into a fight and it got pulled out. He does want to have it redone though.

I think after this experience, I might not want to be a piercer, probably because throughout the entire procedure I seemed to be in more pain than him, but it's something worth considering i guess! I am doing a few more before i decide though: two of my girl friends' nipples and two bellybuttons, one top and one bottom!
