It Doesn't Even Hurt

Ever since I got my navel pierced I wanted to get another piercing. But what? I liked tongue and nose piercings, but due athletic stipulations I could not have any visible piercings; I have to take out my navel piercing about four times per week.

I decided that the best bet would be my nipples: it is something that would not be visible and when people find out that I have that done it will surprise them, which I like because I am a very shy person and people would never think that I would get my nipples pierced.

I did not know what studio to go to since I just moved to this area for school. I stumbled upon BME and must have read every nipple piercing experience in the Dallas area and Houston, since that¡¦s where I¡¦m from. I read the most positive experiences from Obscurities in Dallas. I decided that that is where I would go. I found directions (which were not good and I got lost). I kept putting it off saying I would go tomorrow or the next weekend.

Finally, two weeks ago my boyfriend and I went to Dallas to do this. We finally found the studio after driving all the way to Plano from Fort Worth. I went in and was like this is it, I have to do it now. The lady behind the counter had me fill out all the paper work, etc. and I was starting to get more nervous. At Obscurities they give you your aftercare, which I like because you do not have to go to the store afterwards looking for sea salt or soap (like I did before with my navel).

The lady told me that they pierce with bars, not rings. She and Pat said that rings do not heal as well, and bras and shirts pull on the bottoms causing irritation. I told them that I was also an athlete, so bars would definitely be better for me. I do think that rings are more aesthetically pleasing, but whatever heals the best and is the most comfortable works for me. During the summer when I do not have practice I think I will change them to rings.

There was this guy ahead of me and he went back and I sat on the couch kind of nervous. My boyfriend just read a magazine pretending he did not care, but I think he was more scared than I actually was. Pat finished the guy ahead of me, then came to get me. My boyfriend did not go back with me.

In the room I took off my top and bra and he cleaned my nipples and marked them. Then I laid down and he did it. He said he was lining up the needle and I would feel a small prick, then he told me to take a deep breath and let it out slowly, and while I was exhaling he pierced my nipple. I swear, it hurt less than my navel, and that didn¡¦t even really hurt; and I am a pain wimp too! The second nipple hurt a little more, but it was not bad.

Afterwards they hurt for about an hour, you know the burning sensation. After that they were fine. They did bleed just a little. Not much, just a little oozing. I am still protective of them for some reason, probably because I am afraid that it might hurt, but it really does not! I have had practice for the last week, gotten hit in the boobs, slept on my stomach, wrestled around with my boyfriend, gone running, had a game¡Kno pain! You will probably think I am stupid for doing this, but my first practice I went to after the piercing, I wore two sports bras because I knew they would get hit.

I am really proud of my nipples and I want to show people. I never would though. I wanted to tell my teammates, but I have not yet. I know my parents would die, they do not even know that I have my navel pierced, which I have had for eight months now.

The only bad thing was that I had to go to church on Sunday and the top that I was going to wear is kind of tight and thin, and the bra I had on was not padded, so basically you could see right through what I was wearing (of course I changed). If you do not want the piercing to show through your clothes, just be aware of what you wear.

So far my nipples are healing great, are pain free, and I really like them. If you are thinking about getting this piercing¡KGO FOR IT. It is not that bad. I¡¦m sure some people experience a lot more pain than others, but it will eventually go away. This is what I thought, ¡§It can¡¦t be that bad because so many people do it!¡¨ Good luck to any one who is brave enough to go through with it! ƒº
