When my roommate first came back to the dorm two semesters ago with her left nipple pierced I thought that she was insane. After hearing about how much getting the piercing hurt and that it was a bit painful in healing I decided it was something I would never consider. Boy was I wrong.
At A Glance Author Alex Contact Alex@bme.anon Artist Mik Miller Studio Body Xtremes Location North Quincy, Ma. Almost a week ago I decided that I wanted to get my nipple pierced. It wasn't a spur of the moment decision but one of those "I have the nerve to do it now so I better go before I chicken out". I went up to work where my best friend was currently on and begged her to come with me when she got out. She agreed and so it was planned.
At five o'clock that afternoon I picked her up and we headed to North Quincy. We got lost along the way but eventually found the shop. I had been there before when my roommate had gotten her other nipple pierced and at that time I had also had them gauge me ears a size. The place isn't really big but it is definately cool. It had been done over since the last time I had been and there is now a tattoo shop across the street.
I walked in a found about five people waiting. There were already four girls in line ahead of me. Two of them were at the counter and putting down their names for "navels". The others were for a navel and a tongue. The shop closes at 8 and finishes their last piercing by 7:30 so they weren't sure if they were going to be able to fit us all in.
I was standing in like when all of the sudden I hear my friend go "Oh my God" I look to my left and standing there was master piercer Mik Miller. Now to those who aren't very familiar to the piercing world he must look like some sort of freak. He has over 100 piercings and is covered in tattoos. He has spiders and scorpions all over his face and a little neon yellow/green mohawk. I think its almost cute cause here is this older man wearing these skater kid clothes.
Anyways he came out and asked who was getting what pierced. When I said "nipples" everyone around me gasped and the lady behind me with her daughter gave me a funny look. Mik figured there would be enough time to pierce me and all there was left to do was wait. I signed up and the kid at the counter...Pony was his name asked what kind of ball I wanted on my CBR. He gave me a 14g. but I had a funny feeling Mik would make it smaller cause I have tiny nipples. He did the same thing with my friend.
I waited for about 1/2 an hour and finally Mik came out and called my name. I was the last person they were piercing for the night so he closed the main door to the back and left the piercing room door opened which he explained to me and made sure I was comfortable with.
He asked to see my nipple and I didn't even need to fully take off my tank top and bra. I pulled out my left breast and he commented that since I had a small nipple it would be better to pierce it with a 16g. since "this 14 will look like a fuckin door knocker".
I stood up so he could mark me with a felt tip pen then sat down while he dabbed my nipple with some brown liquid stuff which I can't remember the name of. The he put the clamp on which didn't hurt at all.
Mik was awesome the whole time. He had mentioned to me that it wasn't going to be an exactly painless piercing and I said that I was aware. That got us on the subject of pain and how girls can take it better and how he has seen grown motorcylce tough guy type of pen cry. Mik and his assistant Tina do an excellent job of making you feel comfortable, like you have known them for years.
Now came the part of the needle. I watched as he lined it up with the hole and "POP" in and out it went. As soon as he finished I said "Oh...that didn't hurt at all!!!" but it did throb dully AFTER.
All in all the initial piercing didn't hurt itself. Just a bit afterwards. Mik left the room when he was done and Tina came in to put the ball on and clean it up. It did bleed a tad and she put some gauze on it. I wore my bra which they reccommended and it felt a HELL of a lot better. I was on adrenaline after that and couldn't shut up about it.
We left the place and said our thanks to Mik and Tina and Pony.
As for healing...it's been five days and so far it looks GREAT. I have had NO CRUSTIES except for the morning after which there was also a little dried blood but other than that NOTHING. I'm almost shocked as too how well this has reacted. I expected a lot of swelling, pain, discomfort in sleeping, moving, etc. But NONE of this has happened. I'm almost scared that's it going to "backfire" so to speak and I'll get an infection. But so far so good.
My parents don't know about my piercing so its been hard not to talk about it but all together everyone I've shown it too has loved it. I have experienced increased sensitivty and all of the guys I've talked to about or shown have thought it was "hot" or "tight". I definately plan on going back to get the right one pierced.
If you are ever in the Boston area I highly highly 100% reccommend Mik at Body Xtremes. You definately won't regret it. And as for a nipple piercing, I dont know about everyone else but I saw GO FOR IT! It looks awesome and feels even more cool!!!
