I had moved to Corvallis to go to school at Oregon State University. I didn't really know why I decided to go there except they were giving me a tuition break. I had transferred from the University of Alaska Anchorage where I attended school for a semester. I knew that once I left highschool I didn't want to join the work force immediately so I knew I was going to college. The problem was I didn't know what I wanted to do when I "grew up". I first attended Colorado State University and that was where I got my first piercings and tattoos. At a place called Millenium in Fort Collins, Colorado. I chose that place because I had asked them about their sterilization equipment and whether or not they used new needles and they reassured me that they did. My dad works in the medical field so he told me to make sure I got that sort of information before I got pierced or tattooed. I had my ears pierced the summer after my freshman year of college. And from there it just became addicting. I got my tongue pierced and my first tattoo done at Millenium.

Studio Holy Cow Location Corvallis, OR I had been contemplating getting my nipples pierced a few years before I actually went and got them done. I even had other piercings done instead of the nipples because, quite frankly, I was scared to get them pierced. So I got my tongue pierced and I got my lip pierced and wussed out on getting my nipples pierced. Which seems really dumb right now since I was still getting pierced anyway. I remember the day I went into the studio to get them pierced. I wasn't too nervous because I'm not afraid of the piercings themselves, mainly I always heard these horror stories about people who got them done and how much pain they were in when they recieved them. Anyhow, there was no line for piercings that day so I couldn't bail out at the last second really. And truthfully I didn't really want to anyway. Getting a piercing is very therapeutic for me. It's very difficult to explain to first timers but it is like the reality of being alive. It's like taking that first breath of life.
I had heard that sometimes they would do a tandem piercing so the pain would be less or at least it would be done quickly. But I got the old school treatment of one piercer one nipple at a time.
I got on the table and took off my shirt and laid down. She gave me the breathing drill, which I pretty much had down pat by then. I exhaled hard. It was such an adrenaline rush! Everything was in slow motion. I could feel the needle slowly going into my nipple and for the first time I had steel inside my body. It was exhilarating! There was that initial pain because obviously being stabbed with a needle is going to cause some sort of discomfort. But it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. Then she had to prep my other nipple and it took a while. The pain from the first one was beginning to set in and I wondered if I had the balls to go through with the next one. But I laid there and when she pierced the second one it was definitely more painful than the first. I think it has something to do with the old saying "ignorance is bliss". What I mean is, you don't really know what to expect on the first one but the second one you definitely have a good idea as to what it's going to be like. However I would not change my experience at all. For anyone who enjoys piercings as much as myself, I think the best way to go is gettting each one done individually. I felt very calm with everything at that point. The aftercare was relatively simple. Much like how you would take care of your earrings. They told me that all I needed to do was use anti-bacterrial soap and clean it twice a day. So I did. Aside from the crusties that develop there were no terrible side affects. I think the worst part is the healing though. The actual piercing doesn't bother me. The soreness that goes along with the nipple piercings is what is a pain. They basically feel like someone gave you a huge titty twister! But it's all good. My nipples are now super sensitive to the touch. But not in a painful way. And mine healed exceptionally fast which was a bonus. They were sore for a couple weeks but I couldn't be happier with the results!
