I'd never really liked the idea of a nipple piercing, it was a piercing that I didn't think would look right on me. Because I had a few other piercings people used to ask me when I was getting my nipple done, and I always used to tell them it was a piercing I'd never have, because I didn't like the look of it. Anyway, a while ago I started to like the look of the female nipple piercings with barbells that I saw on BME, they kind of grew on me. I had a friend that had it done as well. I still didn't like the look of the CBRs much, but barbells looked really nice. One day I was looking at some pictures on BME and saw a double nipple piercing in an x shape. I loved it from the first time I saw it.

I hadn't really heard much about piercing twice in the same nipple before, I'd seen pictures but that was about it. I couldn't find many written experiences about it (maybe I just wasn't looking right? Anyway, that's part of the reason I'm writing this), and the only ones I had heard of were in a + shape, not an x. I asked the BME e-groups list, and some people gave me some good advice. I was told to make sure my nipples should be marked for the piercing when they weren't erect, as when the nipple gets erect it twists, so the piercing would end up in the wrong place. I also heard from the nipple piercing experiences that piercing nipples hurts as much as piercing cartilage. I didn't like the idea of that, as my ear cartilage always hurts so much to pierce, but I don't mind the pain as long as I get a pretty piercing at the end of it. Its nice to know how much something's going to hurt so I can prepare myself for it though.
I didn't actually plan to get the piercing done for quite a while, but then my 19th birthjday came. I was totally bored with the idea of being 19, ,I mean the birthdays going up to 19 are special, 16 you can smoke, have sex, get a job; 17 you can learn to drive; 18 you can drink, go clubbing, get tattoos; what's so good about being 19? I decided I had to do something to make my birthday exciting, so when I woke up and my Mum gave me my birthday money, I decided to go get my nipple pierced.
I decided to go to Rebel Rebel in Cardiff. My favourite piercers had had to close because of lack of business, and the piercer in Rebel Rebel had done a good job of stretching my tongue piercing. When I finally got there I looked like a drowned rat, cause it'd been pouring with rain, must've looked a right sight. The piercer I remembered from last time wasn't there but another one, Carla, was. She said she'd been trained by him, so I felt more comfortable then. I showed her the picture of the piercing I wanted, and asked her if she could do it. She explained I'd have to have the one half done that day and wait till it was healed and scar tissue had formed underneath (3-4 months), then have the other one pierced. She said she hadn't pierced many 2 in one nipple piercings, because not many people want it done. We had to wait, as the piercing room was being used, so I went outside for a cigarette, and chatted with Carla, who was friendly and made me feel a lot more comfortable (I've been to some unfriendly piercers in the past, friendlyness is important if I'm gonna let someone stick a needle through me)
We went into the piercing room, I was quite nervous by this point. I was shown the 1.5mm barbell in the marked autoclave bag, with the marks to show it had been sterilised, and shown that the needle was in a new packet. I decided that I wanted the barbell going on the / diagonal. She marked the placement while I was sitting, then showed me in the mirror so I could approve then. I think had to lie down and she wiped my nipple with something to clean it. I told her to warn me when she was going to push the needle through, so she did and I didn't believe she'd pushed it through! I was expecting so much pain, but I didn't even feel it go through. Maybe I didn't feel it because I was expecting so much pain. She put a pad on it so that it didn't bleed through my top, explained the aftercare to me and gave me a leaflet on it, then I thanked her, paid and went.
Afterwards it just felt like someone was pinching my nipple for about a day afterwards. I quite liked that feeling :) I did see salt soaks by putting my nipple in an eggcup twice a day, which my family found very amusing. I found it more comfortable to wear a tight vest top or go braless than wear a bra for a few days, and wore I tight vest top to bed. I found it bled small amounts (I'd find small amounts of crusted blood on the barbell) for about a week. It really hurt a few days after when someone knocked into me in a club and it made it bleed, so if you're going to go clubbing I suggest wearing a bra with lots of padding. Which most people do anyway :)
Its three weeks later now, and I still get some crusty bits on the barbells, but it doesn't hurt if I play with it now (I don't play with it, I'll leave that another few weeks, just did it once to see if it hurts). I'm really surprised at how easy and what little pain there's been. Can't wait to get the other half of my x, I'll write an experience when I get that done.
