It was only last month that I had decided I wanted my belly button pierced. I had my ears pierced when I was 12 but that was really as far as I was willing to go. I'm not really sure what made me want it done, but i've always thought it looks really nice and when you see people with a cute bellybar in you can't help but think "wow that looks nice I wish I had one".
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon When N/A Artist Marie Studio Marie's Body Piercing Location Oxford, England I'm pretty much a wimp so when I told my mum I was thinking of getting it done she just laughed at me and said "very funny I really cannot imagine you going through with that!". Obviously she just thought it was one of those phases teenagers go through. I must admit I myself couldn't quite believe I wanted it done and half thought it was just a phase. I told a few of my close friends I was thinking of getting it done and they all said they thought it was a really good idea and that it would suit me. By this time I had made my mind up so I started doing some research (tip do as much as you can!) This site is perfect for getting stories and I must have looked through about 50 of them!
I thought I was in for a huge argument with my parents but surprisingly they were very quick to let me. My mum thinks it looks nice but my dad was worried about infections. I tried to assure him that I would keep it clean and in the end he decided it was my decision and if I wanted it done I could, as long as I was sure.
My mum booked the appointment and I was so excited! I asked loads of people and each one said that it didn't really hurt. I didn't quite believe them because how can a needle going through your belly not hurt!? However the piercing actually took place today and I just got home! When choosing somewhere to get it pierced, make sure it's fairly well heard of and that it's clean. If the place looks dirty and you don't feel as if the equipment is going to be clean enough, don't get it done. The lady was very nice and she calmed me down alot by talking to me about really random stuff haha. Once on the bed I started to panic alot and kept thinking "was this really the right decision do I really want it done?" but before I could come up with an answer I felt the needle going through. I think because she did it so quickly and unexpectedly I didn't find it painful. All I could think was "wait whats happening right now my belly feels kinda strange" and then she told me it was all done. I was really relieved that it was n't painful and I looked at my mum who seemed to have gone quite pale and said "wow that didn't hurt at all!". I tried to sneak a look at it and all I could think was "omg I actually did it!". Also I heard from alot of people that the clamp hurts more then the actual piercing, so I was expecting alot of pain from that, but I didn't feel the clamp at all. The only slightest bit of pain was the needle coming out the other end but it was more shock.
I sat up and walked over to the mirror to take a look, I loved it! At first I was really paranoid that it wasn't straight but my mum convinced me that it looked fine. Altogether it cost £35 and I chose a bellybar with a cute blue gem in it.
It does sting abit when I lean down or go to reach something, and sometimes I find it feels like it's burning, but the woman told me that only lasts for a couple of days and then it gets better. She advised me to keep it in for 5-6 months depending on how well I look after it and depending how long it takes for it to heal... but i'm so excited about changing it! She also told me to keep well away from the sand and sea, but swimming is good because of the chlorine. I'm going on holiday in a few days and i'm really hoping it's going to look nice when I wear a bikini! For all those people who aren't sure about getting it done, don't let your fears stop you! Make sure you do alot of research, and when getting it pierced the main thing to do is relax! I am SO happy I did it now and wish everyone luck if they do it!
