Some time in June I decided that I wanted to be among the pierced and the beautiful. I knew what it was that I wanted. I wanted a navel ring and I wanted it now. So I decided to put my master plan into effect. I knew that asking my mother would be a dead option. She had already said that I could not color my hair until I was a whole 18 years old just think of what she would say about a piercing. And being that I am a teen of only 16 years it felt like a long time. So I decided to go about it on my own.( Along with an accomplice.... my grown sister of course).

Since I was not planning to tell my mother about it an infection would only make things worse. During my research I stumbled across this helpful site bmezine.com. On here I read everyone's experience and decided it was time to give it a go.
My friend told me about this place where her sister got a tattoo done called Poison Apple. So I decided I would go there to check it out. I went about 2 times on Independence Day weekend but each time they were closed. Just think I was all ready to go no butterflies or anything. But I was glad that I never made it there because I read on the internet the controversy about CBR's and banana bells. So I ended up doing more research to find out which was best for me. I decided to go wit the banana bell since I did not want the CBR sticking out(my piercing is suppose to be a secret). So finally I called Poison Apple and asked but they said they only used CBR's. AHHH another week of waiting for my piercing. So I did more research on the net and found another place nearby called Big City Tattoo. I called to find out the hours and what they used. They pleasant sounding woman on the other end told me both so I decided to go there.
Now for another go at my navel piercing. My sister got me up early that weekend which was the day before my 16th birthday. We went to Big City Tattoo and told the guy what i wanted but he said the piercer just left out. ARGH NOT AGAIN. I thought i would have to wait another weekend but he called the guy and he said he was only 15minutes away so we decided to wait.
Waiting....Waiting... and more waiting. Now i was starting to get nervous until this really cute guy walked in. I was elated to find out that he would be the one giving me my new hole. So he went and got cleaned up and took me into the back. I thought I would have to sit in the infamous "dentist chair" but he had me stand up. He cleaned me up while telling me his name. He had a lot of ear piercings and a really unique tongue piercing. He made me tuck my shirt into my bra and he talked and made jokes through the whole procedure. He kept calling himself a professional poker and he was telling everyone in the room how he pokes people for a living(hahaha). He put the clamps on after marking the spot where the needle would be inserted. He told me that he promised not to make me scream and he stuck the needle through put the jewelry in and screwed it on. My sister was looking and asking "Is he ever going to start?" And I surprised her by telling her that he was already finished. He sat me down and told me all the cleaning instructions and gave me papers for the aftercare. He even gave me his number so i could call if i had any problems. I walked out pierced and beautiful.
My experience was written 4 hours after it happened. But now 2 days later im not having any problems. My navel is really deep so sometimes my piercing looks crooked other times it does not. I have not had any problems at all except I keep running my hands down my front and hurting it. I think this one will take long to heal. I cant wait though because I want 2 more. Maybe Ill get up the courage to show my mom. Someday but not today.
