Ever since I was eleven I've wanted my belly button pierced. My Aunt Susan has had hers done since I was born and for my whole life I have seen it. I've been told by her that she would take me, but I didn't think it would ever happen. My parents aren't into the whole body piercing thing. I was even lucky I had gotten my ears pierced when I did. Putting everything aside I decided to bring the idea up to my mom. I was 13 at the time. I gave her the whole "my friends have it done" deal but of course, as I suspected, I got a no and like any other kid I got the "when I get one you can get one" and the "when your 18 go ahead and do what you want".

It wasn't a long distance from my home so I decided to check it out on the internet. I found that it was a very good place and when I called, the people there were extremely nice and helpful. So, then at the age of 14 I decided to suggest the idea to my parents again, as a graduation present. To much of my surprise after I pleaded my case to my parents they didn't seem to mind the idea. My mom said that she would take me two weeks from then when she was off work. After hearing about this place from everyone and hearing good reviews I showed my mom the website and she thought the place looked reasonably sanitary and that she said she would take me when she gets off work.
After graduation and school was over I told my mom I would like to get my belly button pierced now. Originally she thought it wasn't a very good idea, because summer was here and that meant I couldn't swim. I already knew that, that is one of the things I'm going to have to give up for the summer but I was ok with it. I told my mom that I was ok with it and other things and she finally said she would take me to Brampton the next day after she got home from work.
When the day came to go to the parlor and get my belly button done I was so excited!! The whole day I couldn't stop thinking about it!! My mom suggested that I bring a friend because she's not coming in with me. I decided to bring my boyfriend mike, for comfort. When we got to the parlor, when I first walked in I was a bit frightened. While I was waiting for the lady at the front desk to get off the phone I looked around and there was an older man getting a tattoo on his back and he started to talk to me about what I was here for so I told him. My first impression was that it was a clean place and the everyone was very nice! I was given almost twenty barbells to choose from and I ended up choosing a double jewel barbell with a blue jewel. After I had picked my barbell and filled out the papers I had to wait for approximately fifteen minutes while everything was cleaned up in the room. During the waiting time my mom kept asking me if I really would like to go through with it, every time I said of course.
I got called back to the room and the lady who was going to be doing piercing explained to me what she was going to do, and then she began. First I had to stand while she marked my belly, then I laid down and I got cleaned up with iodine. My mom, during the cleaning stages looked as if she was going to pass out. After I was cleaned, I was asked to take a deep breath in and as I breathed back out I felt the needle go through. It wasn't that bad of an experience, most of my friends complained that it hurt quite a bit but I disagree. I looked at my mom after the whole thing and she was looking at the wall. My boyfriend on the other hand, like my mom before, looked as if he was going to pass out.
It's a week later and my piercing looks great. The top hole is a bit red, but nothing out of the normal. I was told to clean it two times a day and its very easy to clean. It looks very cute with my bathing suit when I'm at the beach tanning with my friends. To anyone thinking about getting it done, go for it! Its worth it!
