Ever since I was little I have always wanted to get my belly button pierced. Soon all of my friends were getting there's done and I was so jealous. I had been asking my parents over and over if I could get mine done too and they just kept saying no. So finally I decided to be sneaky and me and two friends went down to the piercing place. My one friend got his nipple pierced and my other friend got her bellybutton pierced and I chickened out. I was afraid of getting caught. But two months later when my parents were out of town I went back down to the piercing place and got my bellybutton pierced.
At A Glance Author Carmen Contact carmeelion@hotmail.com When Three months ago Artist unsure Studio Bee Cool Location Calgary Alberta It looked so pretty! After warnings of keeping it clean and not going swimming until at least 3 months after I got it done, on the second month I went to a hot tub party. We all know how gross hot tub water gets after a party. So two days after that party my belly button was extremely infected and it was so sore that I could hardly move.
I tried to save it by doing sea salt soaks over and over but during one soak the top ball of the barbell fell straight through the piercing and hit the floor. I puked and fainted. So then off to the doctors I went where they bandaged my wound and gave me medicine to kill the infection. 4 months later my infection was gone and my tummy was healed with very little scar tissue and I still wanted my belly button pierced!
So I went back down to the parlor and got it done. It hurt way more to pierce the second time, but with my luck they were out of regular bar bells so I got a jewelled one for cheaper. They repierced my belly button for me and I have kept it healthy and it is now healed!
I have not been into a swimming pool or hot tub yet and it is now almost 4 months after my piercing. I'm doing good!
The top part of the piercing has a red scar from where the old piercing was, so it doesn't look as amazing as it originally would have, but I still love it.
Even my parents have learned to love it and I am now addicted to piercings.
My best words of advice to you if you are looking to get your navel pierced is follow cleaning directions, baby the heck out of it, stay away from hot tubs and swimming pools, DO NOT PLAY WITH IT! and do not wear tight shirts for a few days.
I have also heard that some people just can not handle belly button piercings. My friend got hers done and kept it clean and tried to heal it but after 6 months it still wouldn't heal. She had not gone swimming or done anything wrong, but her body just would not let her keep it.
I have also heard that if you are too skinny they are scared to pierce your belly button because there isn't enough skin to grab on to. Do your research before you get a piercing and be prepared for a couple weeks of constant cleaning and taking care of it, and after a couple of months you will have the prettiest piercing around and all of your friends will be jealous of you.
I must warn you however, I had gotten my ears pierced with two holes in each ear, but after my belly button piercings I have become addicted to piercings. I want to get my inverse belly button done as well, those are really cute.
Choose a clean, safe place to go get pierced and if you have any troubles go back to where you got it done before you go to a doctor, because when you go to a doctor with an infected belly button piercing they will take it out and lecture you. not fun! But after my story if you are still as determined to get it done as I was then you know this piercing is right for you. Mine still oozes from time to time, but that is to be expected, and be careful as to what kind of jewellery you change into your hole because the cheaper jewlerry can anger your piercing and make it sore for a few days. I tend to just stick to the jewellery that they sell in piercing places because you know that they are good quality and that if anything goes wrong you can blame them! just kidding! Get your bellybutton pierced in the winter so that in the summer you have a nice healed piercing and you can go swimming in pools and at the beach and wear tight clothes, that is what helped my piercing heal the second time around.
